Help request

[edit]

I do not want an edit war. I am closely related to Rodney Howard-Browne and was directed to add the adminhelp tag. I know Rodney has some strange things happen in his meeting but animal noises is not and has never been one of them. Rodney has even voiced heavy opposition in his meetings about such practices. Rhode Island Red has sourced an older news article [1] as a source for the animal noises, but even in that article it rightly stated that the animal noises followed the Toronto Blessing which Rodney wasn't apart of but influenced the leader in some way. He is stating that I need a source "Please stop edit warring and do not alter this material unless you can find reliable sources that support your contentions." How am I supposed to find a news article that will state there are no animal noises occurring in Rodney's meeting? I can however source a newer article from a more reliable source that does go into detail exactly what occurs in the meeting. The article is even sourced in Rodney's wiki page already. It describes a whole lot of things "Many dropped in fits of laughter. Others were silent, eyes closed, in what seemed to be meditative states. Some wept uncontrollably or spoke in tongues, shouting or muttering words believed to have been brought on by the Holy Spirit. Still others shook as if they were having seizures." But what is noticeably absent in the description is there was no animal noises. This is the article [2]. Is there any way to use that as a source against the animal noises, or some other unknown solution? Obelisk29 (talk) 21:03, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Obelisk29! I understand your frustration. I was at Brownsville and still heard inaccurate statements about what took place there, mistakenly connecting the outpouring there to Toronto. A couple of questions. The Christianity Today article "implies" that RHB has animal sounds in his services. In my opinion, shabby journalism on the part of Carnes. Do you have access to the full Christianity Today article found here? If you could review that article for more information, it would help. You have stated that RHB is an outspoken opponent of animal noises. While you state that you "know" this because you have a personal or familial relationship with him, we cannot rely on your personal knowledge. (See WP:OR). Has his opposition ever been offered in an interview of any kind? You've stated that you have videos. Are they on YouTube? Can this claim be verified in order to counter the claim by CT that implies the presence of the animal sounds? Let me know your thoughts here. BTW, I'm not an administrator. Your request is not applicable to administrator tasks, since anybody can offer help regarding your concerns here. Until we can verify that RHB opposed animal sounds, I would recommend that you just take a break from the article. It will still be here when we can offer some verification. I have some appointments coming up in 30 minutes, so I'll be gone for a few hours, but will come back later to take a look and check some of the resources that I have.
