Stephen Colbert

It is not allowed to discuss the real life identity of an editor unless they make a revelation on wiki. See WP:OUTING. I understand that your intentions were good. Jehochman Talk 10:23, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Equally important, there is zero evidence to support the assertion, in any event. As soon as I heard the word "Wikipedia" I pressed the record button, and I just played it back to make sure I was right: all he said was that the "Colbert Nation" had altered Conan O'Brien's wiki page -- not that he himself had done so. Besides which, that account was registered and made a single edit in 2005, with no further edits until yesterday. Furthermore, around the same time there were some other non-sense edits by anon. IP accounts. In short, even if "outing" was permitted, it had no basis in fact. All the more reason to be very cautious when it comes to stuff like that. But hey, at least you're not the guy who spotted the claim that Conan O'Brien had whacked a sea turtle with the oar of a canoe -- and promptly slapped a "dubious - discuss" tag on it. LOL That totally cracked me up! Cgingold (talk) 10:46, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sorry. I didn't realize there were such regulations. It won't happen again.Obsessiveatbest (talk) 01:16, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
