I added a bit more info and would love some help if there are any problems with it. I will be adding to it as time permits so expect that article to expand greatly ;) User:usmarinesjz

Thanks for the help on the page!! Hope you will catch any more mistakes that I might commit thus helping me to create a great article. User:usmarinesjz

Regarding the tags you added to the article Ethics of eating meat, could you please elaborate the specifics of your objections on the article talk page? Without detials those tags will probably be removed. Thanks for the help looking after the article! HighInBC 01:12, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, HighInBC, I have added some notes on the article talk page. Please go take a look and see what can be discussed further.OfficeGirl 01:49, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Halo

[edit]

Hey office girl, thanks for the organizational help over at Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem. I disagree that it belongs as a section on the Christian Zionism page as you suggested due to the fact that many of the people and churches involved don't fit into Christian Zionism. The mandate to pray for the peace of Jerusalem applies to all Christians and not just those who are actively inolvoved in the efforts of Christian zionism. Also, simply by the scope of the numbers of people involved it's a sizeable enough event for it's own page.

Please continue what you've been doing though, it's nice to see the page getting additional exposure. Peace --Homecomputer 01:00, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Office girl, hi. You made a note on my talk page that I was demonizing you. I assure you such was not my intention. If we agree that's great, if not that's fine too. You're entitled to you opinions free from personal attack. --Homecomputer 01:15, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In response to you posting that you feel "anger and hatred" I'm sorry you feel upset about the situation. As I noted above I'm glad you came and helped organize things at that article. I don't recall feeling any anger or hatred and I certainly did not intend for you to feel hated. Usually I write with humorous intent to lighten situations that others may find heavy. It looks like this attempt has backfired on you and I appologize.

Regarding the tags, I still feel your use of four different tags is unnesesarry especialy when the notability guidelines demontrate the event to meet minimum standards through press releases released by the Israeli government and a few non-press release write ups from independant sources.. so I'm still a little confused as to what you are pushing for but am sitll glad the article is getting some attetion even if we disagree on some points. Peace.--Homecomputer 14:14, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome, welcome!

  • Welcome! Good to have someone else around here with an advanced degree who knows what they're talking about. Thanks for the support over at Les Sectes. We sure need it here at Wikipedia, where the POV is tilted, falling over the cliff in the other direction with regard to this particular subject matter and the opinions of most editors/administrators. Beware! LOL. Yours, Smeelgova 19:58, 20 October 2006 (UTC).[reply]

At Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hannah's Gift you stated that the Hannah's Gift article needed an overhaul. Well, I gave it one. :-P Check it out and let me know on the AfD if it helps. EVula 05:31, 21 October 2006 (UTC) [reply]

Adam Carr Afd comment

[edit]

Hello OfficeGirl :-) Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for participating in a discussion about deleting an article. When I closed the above Afd I noticed that your comment was a little harsh for an Afd of a biography of a living person. Please review Wikipedia policy about civility and articles that are about living people. Please feel free to contact me on my talk page about this matter or if I can assist you in any other way. Happy editing, FloNight 18:43, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For the sake of reference, my comment which was made the subject of FloNight's post herein is quoted below in its entirety:

*Delete. I'm sure his mommy loves him and thinks he's notable, but he's not ready for inclusion in an encyclopedia.OfficeGirl 05:25, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

I guess that there are a lot of different ways to take those words, depending on how much sarcasm you choose to impute to me. But I didn't mean those words in a sarcastic way at all. If your mommy loves you that's a good thing. My intention was only to say something lighthearted, soothing or constructive before saying that this man just isn't ready for an encyclopedia article. Please assume good faith on my part-- "criticism should not be attributed to malice unless there is specific evidence of malice." Thanks!OfficeGirl 23:03, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The comment was not appropriate. Afd is not a vote. The comments on an Afd need to address the reason(s) that the content of the articles does not merit inclusion in Wikipedia. Your comment did not give any reason, rather it is a cutesy quip. FloNight 02:37, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you are entitled to your opinion, no matter how irrational and emotional it may appear when observed by other normal, everyday people. My comment clearly stated the reason that the content of the article does not merit inclusion in Wikipedia, and I was very nice. In the light of the manner and tone of discussions that run on the AfD pages, singling me out for a public accusation is arbitrary, capricious and completely unjustified.
I see you have now changed your "reason" for making your accusation against me. Why not just admit that you misinterpreted my intentions and let it go-- no harm, no foul? Admins make mistakes all the time and that is what you did with me. No hard feelings on my part, but I want to have a peaceful existence on Wikipedia and I need to set a boundary here. There is no point in continuing further communications between you and me, as there is no indication that your problems with me are related to actual Wikipedia policies. In the future, please consult with another Admin if you have another problem with something that I have written and ask that person to contact me. Please do not contact me directly ever again. Your opinions have been heard and noted, and now this is the end.
I wish you PEACE and a VERY HAPPY LIFE and I hope your favorite sports team has a winning season this year. Live and Let Live. OfficeGirl 05:53, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thelma Terry and the mystery man

[edit]

I have no clue who that man is. He really should be giving financial advice on one of those cable channels down in the US. He's likely there because somebody tried to upload an image and called it terry.jpg, and then linked it to the page without checking to see if the upload worked. It made me smile, though! --Charlene 01:39, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Freej cartoon Afd

[edit]

I'm sorry, my post wasn't very nice. I wasn't intending to accuse you of bad faith, just of onesidedness or laziness or something similarly, which however wasn't a nice thing to do either. I was annoyed at the time, because I had encountered two AfD's where it was obvious that, even though the articles where in a bad shape (in the case of Freej, in a very bad shape), they could very easily be rescued with some effort, as was clear from a Google search (I hadn't heard of either subject before the AfD). In the other one, I had had a rather bizarre statement that after I pointed out that it was a famous printed comic, the next "voter" said delete because it failed WP:WEB (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Billoo), and then in the BillooFreej one, you came along, and also wanted to delete a perfectly valable subject (please note: valable subject, not valable article!). I was annoyed, and from a cursory glance at your contributions list, it looked as if you were only here to participate in AfD's, and then to delete against deletion policy and the work I had put into finding sources. Coupled with the ridiculous comment (by someone else) on the other AfD, I overreacted, and added personal comments to (valid) objections about the deletion policy. I'll try not to do this again. Fram 06:01, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your kind words, and I'm glad that our unlucky first meeting has turned out so good! I notice that I made an error in my statement above, I have struck and replaced it. I need to take a bit more time before posting obviously :-) I hope to see you around! Fram 20:01, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification About Robert Priddy

[edit]

OfficeGirl, you voted to keep the Robert Priddy article because you said it was notable [1]. After intense debate on the talk page, no one has been able to point out even one single reputable or reliable reference that makes mention to Robert Priddy. Pjacobi suggested I file another AFD [2], although I have been determined to be too close to the dispute. Since Priddy is not mentioned in any reliable or reputable references, this presents a problem because various users are trying to attribute information to Priddy that cannot be sourced to reliable or reputable references. What exactly makes Priddy notable and what information can be included about him on his wiki-page, in your opinion? SSS108 talk-email 22:50, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AFD for Cedar Rapids mayors

[edit]

I just wanted to remark about the two other Cedar Rapids mayors that you nominated: when I nominated the three I did, I purposely did not nominate the other two, because in my opinion they plainly fulfill WP:BIO for their non-mayoral positions. Of course, if you think that I'm wrong, that's different, and I don't claim any right to judge WP standards more than you :-) Nyttend 19:33, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimania in Atlanta!

[edit]

Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!

P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 06:43, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I posted a response on the AFD page. I do appreciate your efforts but you cannot make a silk purse from...you know what. Carlossuarez46 00:39, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of non-compliant articles is not biting newcomers. All items where there is a WP:COI demand extra scrutiny - it is reasonable to assume that those with a conflict will have difficulty maintaining a NPOV and may well overestimate the importance of the subject. Here, a guy gave a talk on something. It happens every day. It happens at notable conferences MacWorld, Microsoft Developers groups, various other things on the software world. If someone gave a 35 minute talk on his latest bot at the next Wikimania would that make the bot notable? This is the level of notability we're talking about except Wikimania is probably a bigger event by terms of notability than the event at which this guy spoke. I'm trying to keep perspective here, but 1 self-citation in a speech in a non-notable event is really stretching it - but on the bright side if this gets kept I can probably create an article on my thesis once it's published. :-) Carlossuarez46 02:47, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Good Guys!

[edit]

Thanks for changing the article; I've now removed the article for deletion notice. There is a chain of stores called The Good Guys here in Australia (not related to the US company) but if they ever get a wiki page it will need to be without the blatant advertizing. Portable buildings

[edit]

Hello, thanks for writing. I'm afraid I can't evaluate this dispute very well because I'm not very familiar with this subject. From a cursory examination of websites it looks as if the trademarked name has become genericized in the UK; if this is a major global producer of the things perhaps it could have its own WP article (which would have the official website of the company linked therein)? Would that work as a solution? Badagnani 04:30, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for defending the article from that hijacker, but I should warn you that you violated the three-revert rule while doing so. I'm not going to issue you an official warning, though. Here's how to roll back a bunch of edits all at once: In the page history, click the "last" link next to the version that you want to revert back to, then hit edit. Highlight all the text and copy it. Then go back to the current version, hit edit again, and paste. Make sure you include in the edit summary whose version you're reverting back to. Happy editing! GlassCobra 12:05, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, that was silly of me. I'm sorry, I just saw a bunch of reverts and instinct took over. I'm glad you got Twinkle, though, I've heard it's good. :) GlassCobra 12:44, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing to worry about here. You didn't violate the 3 revert rule. It was a single revert made over 4 edits. --OnoremDil 12:50, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. I'm not trying to convince you to "vote" in anyway, that would be unethical. However, you had a lot of comments regarding my sources before. I have two more sources in this article. Please take a look and answer truthfully. I do believe I can satisfy the "delete army" someday! :) Nesnad 13:14, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

3RR mistake in Gongriding article

[edit]

In case any Admin notices that I replaced the speedy tag 3 timesin Gongriding, I realized after the fact that I had done so. I hadn't been counting-- I just went back to the page as I noticed it in recent changes in the midst of viewing many other recent changes. Mea culpa. I went back to Gongriding to remedy the 3RR situation on my part, but tag was already removed again by article's creator. Clothes Over Bros

[edit]

Thank you for your support, OfficeGirl. I'm new to the Wikipedia community, so it was my first time creating an article. I was quite shocked that it was deleted so quickly, but I plan to start over again. Vintagevixen 22:31, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I've now explained to this user why her article was speedily deleted. I think you are labouring under the illusion that speedy deletion is always preceded by a tag. I try really hard to be fair to new users, but if I had to tag articles myself as well as delete them, I would never have any time for anything else! Nevertheless, thanks for pointing out the apparent injustice. Deb 15:39, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, User:OfficeGirl. I've been dealing with this sockpuppet user (i.e. Samlaptop) for months now. It's always more effective if there are more than one person trying to fight this kind of vandalism than if it's just one person alone. I think the people at SPI and Page Protection are thoroughly sick of hearing from me about this. I think the next step is to file an ISP report at WP:ABUSE. I've been gathering evidence for the last few days. I may ask you to leave a quick note on the topic after I file my report. Thanks again, -Thibbs (talk) 20:04, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Hornbook -- a new WP:Law task force for the J.D. curriculum

[edit]

Hi OfficeGirl/Archive 1,

I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".

Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.

  • Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
  • It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
  • Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
  • I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.

What you can do now:

1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
2. If you're a law student,
(You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.

Regards, Andrew Gradman talk/WP:Hornbook 20:00, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
