Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I'm sorry I hadn't checked the rules on usernames, I was aiming for complete transparency of my intention to update the page - I would like to keep the talk active and discuss any changes to the page with the community before actually making any changes Oldhamcouncil (talk) 07:15, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

Your behavior pior to being blocked has been consistent with our Wikipedia:Conflict of interest guideline, and we appreciate your efforts at transparency. You have been unblocked.

Before proceeding, please go to WP:CHU/Simple to request a username change. Also, to maintain transparency, please post a statement about any conflict of interest you may have on your user page. Then you may continue.

If you want to request a substantial change to the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham article, please preface your proposal with the tag {{request edit}} to cause your request to appear to other editors in a category page. ~Amatulić (talk) 22:19, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That name would be OK. However ...

Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. Daniel Case (talk) 03:58, 6 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Daniel Case In reference to your points, I do understand that Wikipedia is a an encyclopedia and conflict of interest. This is why, under guidance from Wikimedia UK, I was using the talk page for clarity and to discuss changes with the community before even considering making them. As you'll see on the page, the changes are factual (citing references throughout) and aimed to update a terribly out of date page. Oldhamcouncil (talk) 08:01, 8 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
