Why do you write things like {{f}_{n}} in TeX instead of just f_n? Or \underset{n\to\infty}{\mathop{\lim}} instead of \lim_{n\to\infty} ? \lim is already a standard operator name, and when it appears in a "displayed" as opposed to "inline" setting, its subscripts appear directly below it, without the need to use "underset". (Similarly with \sup.) Is there some account of TeX on the web somewhere that says things should be done that way? Michael Hardy (talk) 06:51, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Adam, Those images were created using BASIC programs I have written over the years. For each point in a region of the complex plane the programs perform compositions as I have described and evaluate the modulus or absolute value of the process, then paint that pixel a color shade, usually black and red for values near zero, going up to green, then light blue for large values.
