Teaching English as a Foreign Language[edit]

Hi, Omadaf2. I can't claim to be an expert on the topic of TEFL programs/certificates/whathaveyou, but I'm willing to have a look into your concerns over the links in this article to see what can be done to improve it if you think that might help. Obviously I'm just one man and my opinion may well not tally with what everyone else thinks, but I'm willing to use my experience around here to help resolve this issue if you're willing to come to the party - as we say in Australia. If you have no objections, I'll keep everything organised on my Talk page for this - rather than chopping and changing between yours and mine. That way, we should be able to keep track of the situation. If you don't have my Talk page on your watchlist, I'd say that's probably the best thing to do here. Thanks for taking the time to explain why you removed my external link. Here's something you may not be aware of: Many sites are selling short "teaching certificate" courses called TEFLs or similar. As an experienced teacher in Italy I can assure you that such courses are generally unnecessary and even fraudulent as they are promoted by false claims "You will need this to teach in Italy" and promoted by fictitious employment ads "Teacher Wanted...Certificate required." They add their links to Wiki articles and effectively control the Teaching English as a Foreign Language article. When I tried to edit the article or remove their links they just put them back on. I then tried to have the article removed and my account was mysteriously deleted. I attempted to create my own article but that was promptly removed. My web site calls attention to the TEFL scam so I am very frustrated by editors removing my link while failing to block the TEFL scamers.Omadaf2 (talk) 16:40, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Sicily. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product.
