March 2020[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, discussion pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Wikipedia:Teahouse, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Cordless Larry (talk) 08:42, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry. I made grammatical changes so that the people reading the Wikipedia Pages are comfortable reading them. Pardon me. Omniscien1 (talk) 09:01, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I understand, but please don't edit other editors' comments at the Teahouse, even if it is to correct typos or incorrect capitalisation. Please do fix typos in articles, but not in talk page comments made by other editors. Cordless Larry (talk) 09:02, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. I understand. By the way, I want to vanish from Wikipedia. As a young editor, I am nervous about all this. I am just 13 years old. I joined Wikipedia because I saw many errors in the Pages. Can you help me in any way? Omniscien1 (talk) 09:04, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please see the advice you were given at Wikipedia:Teahouse#Getting out of Wikipedia. Cordless Larry (talk) 09:07, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I had read that. I had requested to vanish myself in my user page. But till now no action had been taken. From whichever place you be, but can you help in anyway? I had used the tag "{{db-user}}" in my user page if you see. Omniscien1 (talk) 09:16, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User Cordless Larry: Please reply. I want to leave Wikipedia forever as soon as possible. Please help. Omniscien1 (talk) 09:36, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You've said this a number of times in different places, but then go right back to editing. Why? What exactly is your concern and why are you still editing if you are concerned? —[AlanM1(talk)]— 09:58, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In one of your recent edits, you added links to an article which did not add content or meaning, or repeated the same link several times throughout the article. Please see Wikipedia's guideline on links to avoid overlinking. Thank you. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 10:03, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I want to do editing. But usually don't like groups. I don't want people to know about me. I joined here to edit and to serve for others' benefits. But I did not know about these many people working with me. Sorry if you have any problem with me. But I will be grateful if any of you can help me. Dhanyavad (Thank You in Hindi) Omniscien1 (talk) 10:05, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please please vanish me from here. If you can Omniscien1 (talk) 10:07, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your User page is now blanked. I believe you are within your rights to delete everything on your Talk page. Your account will stay active if you change your mind. You have made edits to articles, Teahouse and other editors' Talk pages. Do not edit or delete those. David notMD (talk) 11:54, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. If it helps, people only know what you choose to tell them. We don't know who you are or where, and whatever information you provided on your user page is now gone (IIRC, you wisely did not reveal anything significant anyway). Cheers! —[AlanM1(talk)]— 19:04, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Since I am new here I have not yet gained trust over this website. I still feel like my email ID is unsafe and someone is viewing it. That's why I want to vanish. I love editing in Wikipedia. Omniscien1 (talk) 06:18, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to remove your e-mail address from your account, you can do so at Special:Preferences. Cordless Larry (talk) 07:47, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Could an oversighter come and remove Omniscien1's age on this revision? -MegaGoat (Talk) (Contribs) 18:49, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:MegaGoat, firstly I wanted to ask: what problems can happen on revealing age? According to me there is no problem. And secondly, please explain me what is a revision. Thank you. Omniscien1 (talk) 09:35, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really know what could happen upon revealing age, but I believe you could be harassed on Wikipedia and they might insult you on your age (Read WP:NPA and WP:YOUNG) so you might not want to reveal age. Also, revisions are old edits. Say, you could edit a page and someone could undo that and then you could go to the page history tab and look at what are called "diffs," just a shortened version of differences. And when you click on "diff" it takes you to what is called a revision. -MegaGoat (Talk) (Contribs) 12:41, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

For your own protection, you should not reveal your age until you reach whatever the age of majority is in your country. Even then, it may or may not be a good idea to. I would again strongly suggest that you consult with a parent or guardian about this, who might better be able to explain it to you. 331dot (talk) 13:30, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you MegaGoat. Yeah I understand that they (some users) may insult me but I am not that young that I will take these things seriously. But thanks for your help and suggestions. Omniscien1 (talk) 14:17, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also, thank you 331dot for your help.Omniscien1 (talk) 14:19, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A kitten for you![edit]

A barnstar this may not be, but there are many ways that Wikipedians show confraternity with and encouragement to each other. Keep up the good work and I'm sure that your efforts, will, in time, speak for themselves. I'm going to also post a welcome message below this with some useful links.

A belated welcome![edit]

The welcome may be belated, but the cookies are still warm!

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Omniscien1. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page, consult Wikipedia:Questions, or place {{help me}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

Again, welcome! Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 17:14, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
