Userboxes

[edit]

I'm really impressed with the quantity and quality of the userboxes you've been creating. And what a diverse range of subjects! Keep up the good work! -- JediLofty User | Talk 10:41, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm having fun. Once I learned how to do them I just added my own tastes to them. As you can tell I have a range of interests, from the serious to the completely inane! --One Salient Oversight 11:04, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Neil, I see that you do not have the email feature enabled, so I'll post this here even though it's not technically for the purposes of creating an encyclopedia :) Just a few thoughts to finish up some good conversation. Please check out the article progressive Adventist - it is almost solely my work. I am absolutely convinced that such-minded people do not receive the attention their notability and numbers deserve, either internally or externally to the church. So far two people that I know of have highly appreciated this article. I have written many other articles, a list of which is on my Contributions subpage.

I appreciated your opinion on the Branch Davidians - they were a messed up group, a splinter group of another splinter group (Davidians or Shepherd's Rod), and from a public relations POV the church was wise to disassociate itself with them long ago. At the same time, many people do believe the FBI (was it?) handled the situation very poorly. The first time I heard their role criticised was by a friend who is into conspiracy theories, and so I dismissed it as a crack-pot anti-government conspiracy theory. Now, it seems that many sane, educated people do believe the FBI made some serious blunders. There were some good articles and posts on my favourite blog - a non-Adventist evangelical book and review from another such, with a response and followup forum discussion.

I didn't have as much to say about the culture of the Middle East as you or Ashé, but it is a fascinating and extremely relevant topic, and I look forward to learning more. I am very interested in learning more about the charismatic/Pentecostal movement. My experience of them has really only been with Hillsong Church, and a few such friends who also attend Avondale College. I have attended ordinary worship services a couple of times, one live recording, and Men's Conference 2006 and Hillsong Conference 2006 (I wrote the article). I had a very positive experience at both conferences. I may be overreacting to an attitude prevalent amongst more conservative Adventists - many are highly suspicious of other church groups, particularly Catholics and Pentecostals. Perhaps I am too positive of them. Either way I would appreciate your opinion. I plan to write a published, real-world article about the 2006 and 2007 (coming soon) Conferences. What can you tell me about Ps and Cs?

I mentioned this article, which is a crucial report IMO: “Left Behind” - Is Representation of Religion in the U.S. Media Skewed? (brief blog with a link to the actual report). I am not an opponent of conservative Christianity as a whole - I am a conservative Christian myself in many ways, but reject the common "boxed" portrayal by the media as narrow-minded, unintelligent, dogmatic etc. Reporting on conservative leaders far out of proportion can only by harmful to Christians and others.

Here is Category:Former Seventh-day Adventists, which I created, albeit somewhat against my conscience! I wrote Dale Ratzlaff and Robert Brinsmead, and added most of the others myself. Actually many of the additions are uncited, and I would not complain if a stricter Wikipedian were to remove them from the category.

Cheers and good to meet you, Colin MacLaurin 02:40, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That was a big post, and not technically for the purposes of creating an encyclopedia. However I would still appreciate your comments, OSO. Please reply on my talk page. Colin MacLaurin 16:31, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Peter Jensen pic

[edit]

Hi! I frankly don't know why I gave it a CC license. Maybe I read the options and thought that was the one that seemed to fit. I presumed It was OK to use it as it was freely available through Anglican Media.

What license should it have? Should it be deleted and uploaded differently? Can you fix it? I'm not good at this sort of stuff!

--Amandajm 12:23, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think the CC license was what I stuck on it because I read the list and when I had downloaded it from Anglican Media, it said that it was a promotional pic that could be used with acknowledgement. So the source needs to be acknowledged. Do you think I should give Anglican Media a ring to find out? They are monitoring the website that it has been used on, so will know it is there. --Amandajm 06:51, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't worry about it. I've already emailed them and I got an email back yesterday saying they will contact me shortly about it. I'll see if I can get either a change in licence (to a CC one) or at least a statement allowing the pics to be used more freely on Wikipedia. The reason this is important is because I created the userbox User:UBX/Sydney Anglicans which featured the cropped pic of Peter Jensen. Images that are copyrighted and determined to be "fair use" can't be used on userboxes or people's pages. Even though the images are essentially promotional in nature they still can't be used for any other purpose. It's tough, I know, but I was able to get special permission from Xiph.Org Foundation to use their logo on the userbox User:UBX/Ogg Vorbis so all may not be lost.

Hi, I'm sorry that I left a message on your User page. I do stupid things like that on a remarkably regular basis. I keep reminding myself of Mr Bean... particularly having just seen the latest.... oh, this is waffle... ...if you've emailed Anglican Media then it will probably be sorted out quite easily. Userbox obsession is good

[edit]

Hi - good to meet you (briefly) at the Sydney meetup.

If you ever want to use your (if I understood you correctly) obsessive userbox habit for a good cause, consider paying a visit to Appropedia:Help:Userboxes - they will serve an important role in the networking on the site, but I've been focused elsewhere, and we haven't had anyone take up the task.

No pressure, but if you were ever in the mood to help (or even had suggestions) it would be fantastic. Thanks --Chriswaterguy talk 14:51, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On the Unfulfilled Christian Prophecy article

[edit]

Do you want to maybe work on it together now that it's been redirected, since many people seem to support that the material might be useful, perhaps as a new article? I can't help very much right now, because school is almost over and i'm still doing exams, but once exams are out after next tuesday, I was thinking that maybe we could work on the article under a user subpage with a much better title, and make it so the original purpose of it actually shines out clearly in a manner which would defend itself from drastic changes in purpose. After next tuesday, I think i'll have large amounts of free time on my hands, and i'd be very interested in helping put this article together in a proper manner. EU Userboxes

[edit]

I've made a userbox to replace your collection of userboxes that tell specific countries to join the EU. It uses parameters and parser functions.

{{User:The Userboxer/Userboxes/JoinEU}} creates

This user wants all of Europe to join
the European Union.

That one is an example of how it would look if no parameter was defined. However, one parameter, the country, would make it like this:

{{Sweden}} creates

This user wants Sweden
to join the the European Union.

This template effectively deprecates all of your join-EU templates. Sorry. If you have any questions, drop me a line. The UserboxerComplain/ubx 15:20, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I understand what you're saying. I know all that about ownership of userspace, but the problem is that I never got an edit summary nor an explanation on my talk page as to what was done and why. I don't care if anyone edits my userboxes, I just like an explanation why they did, or if they don't like the way it looks, to tell me on my talk page.

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:154273498 f53dff1b41 o d.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:154273498 f53dff1b41 o d.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:154273498 f53dff1b41 o d.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 23:35, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Steve Gilliard and Daily Kos

[edit]

I became aware of this AfD in response to an ANI report, noticed this link, and noticed you posted there. I have no real interest in the AFD or individual in question (i.e. if it is kept or deleted) but you might want to post there again and let them know that showing up to the debate per the request in that post will very likely have no appreciable effect on the outcome; it just makes more work for the closing admin to wade through numerous opinions from new editors that are not supported. In short, they are probably hurting their chances more than helping them. I'd tell them myself, but I don't particularly feel like going through the trouble of making an account to do so. If you want, you can just cut and past this message over... just as long as they understand I don't speak in any official capacity here, it's just a suggestion from an admin.--Isotope23 14:58, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Use finney charles.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Use finney charles.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 06:59, 7 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Boivie 06:59, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:Hillsong.jpg

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Hillsong.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —♦♦ SʘʘTHING(Я) 16:39, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Hillsong2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Hillsong2.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Malkinann 06:17, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:154273498 f53dff1b41 o d.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 03:13, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use disputed for Image:Like a daydream.ogg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Like a daydream.ogg.

Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:30, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Brazil_06.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Brazil_06.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Garion96 (talk) 21:17, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More on the Newcastle Meetup

[edit]

Hi, thanks for inviting me, even though it was so long ago. I've been busy in the real world, and lately mucking around with facebook, and only just recently come back to my faithful old friend. I'm living in Brissy now, so I'm unlikely to come to a meetup, but I'll leave my name on the contact list in case I happen to be down there at some time. Fair use rationale for Image:EasyRider 02.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:EasyRider 02.jpg. Fair use rationale for Image:Brazil_11.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Brazil_11.jpg.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Perfect Time.ogg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Perfect Time.ogg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:57, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Pillar of fire.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. --John Bot III (talk) 15:25, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

G'day

[edit]

G'day esteemed person who has expressed interest in Sydney based meetups at this page (I hope that's the correct wording for the formal greeting!!). You may have heard that Australia is to have its very own 'chapter' of the Wikimedia Foundation - and further, there's a meeting coming up to discuss / enact the chapter's incorporation (details here). I'm afraid that I don't know too much about the details of what this entails, other than having a private hope that we might get a secret handshake, and maybe cheap coffee at wikimania (this is a poor attempt at humour - I'm sure that the Chapter's do great work, and it's a good thing that Australia is to have one).

If you're interested in meeting up this weekend (the set date is the 20th) - or later, then please do head over here and sign up, or make a comment at the talk page... the drive to create the chapter has largely come from another town in Australia that I'm afraid I haven't actually heard much about.. and anything they can do.... right? - cheers, Privatemusings (talk) 11:11, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

G'day sydneysider - fancy a 'not quite a meetup but a few drinks' sort of thing? - We can chat about the new aussie chapter, the price of eggs and have our very own 2020 Wiki Summit! - or just sink a couple of cold ones and gass bag about the good 'ol days of wiki, when an editor could get some repsect (not a typo)! I've suggested something here so take a look and sign up if you're up for it... cheers, Privatemusings (talk) 02:28, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged Image:Space1999_01.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. tree kill

[edit]

I think it is because when you add CO2 to water, it becomes acidic.. so the soil may be too acidic for trees? I'm not 100% sure. hike395 (talk) 02:47, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The USGS says it is because of a lack of O2 at the roots. Check out http://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/fs172-9 hike395 (talk) 02:50, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A Sydney Meetup

[edit]

G'day all - I'm dropping this note in to let you know that there's to be a Wiki Meetup the week after next, on Tuesday, 21st at 18:00 at The Paragon in Circular Quay. If you've ever thought about popping along to one of these, but haven't had the chance - now's the time! If you love the idea, but the time and / or place don't quite work for you, please do feel free to wiki edit away at the meetup page and I'm sure we can sort something out :-) Meetups are a great way to share wiki-thoughts, meet wiki-friends, and generally learn how to prefix all areas of your life with wiki- :-)

It's a very friendly bunch, and we're hoping to be able to formally collect membership fees and details for the Australian Chapter (did you know that we're the only current english speaking chapter? Join now for kudos and future bragging rights!) - as well as just generally have a good 'ol time. I look forward to seeing you there :-) best, Privatemusings (talk) 07:48, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Accommodation (religion)

[edit]

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Accommodation (religion), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Replaceable fair use Image:EasyRider 03.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:EasyRider 03.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sydney Meetup

[edit]

I think you may have been notified by email, but I thought it was worth my dropping in a note anywhoo, to let you know that Sydney Wikipedians are having a meetup this coming Tuesday, the 4th August. As you'll see on that page, we have two folk flying in from the Wikimedia Foundation who will be attending, and we have a great crowd of wiki types signed up to come along.

If you've never been to a meetup before, this wouldn't be a bad one to kick off with (we're all very friendly, interesting, and great looking folk ;-), and if you have, well come along again, why don't ya! If you've any questions you can flick the aussie mailing list an email on wikimediaau-l@lists.wikimedia.org aussie mailing list, or drop me a note on my talk page. Hope to see some of you there!

ps. If you've already signed up, and received an email, and a phone call, and a door knock, and are getting a bit frustrated with constant advances from enthusiastic australian wiki types, then I'm told you can print this message, and bring it along to use as a 'free beer' voucher, redeemable by our esteemed Vice-President of WMAU on the night...... ;-) Privatemusings (talk) 22:05, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Charismatic Chaos

[edit]

The article Charismatic Chaos has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not assert notability, other than the word "controversial", without noting for what it is controversial.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi all,

It's meetup time again in Sydney - hopefully you'll be able to come along for friendly chat and drinks about all things wiki - topics will no doubt include the Chapter - perhaps with planning for the upcoming AGM, the general state of wiki-play, and the traditional candle lighting to encourage the mythical flagged-revisions extension to make its way on to the wiki. At this point, I usually mention that sitting wiki arbitrators are compelled to buy everyone a drink, but one of our number has taken a rather extreme route in avoiding this duty - if you have no idea what I'm talking about then you're probably busy writing and maintaining articles - but come along anyways on the 21st October, from 18.30 til late, to find out :-) cheers, Privatemusings (talk) 21:31, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thanks for your comments and transparency :]

On Wikipedia, I neither support or oppose the desalination plant. This is an encyclopedia and as such I keep my opinions to myself and contribute what information I can to the best of my abilities, skills, knowledge and access to resources in an unbiased manner. The portrayal of the proposed plant as such in encyclopedic form as close to reality as possible, reveals inherent truths about the proposed plant that supporters may not wish to acknowledge. I am willing to acknowledge any realities about the proposed plant, favour them the opponents or the supporters.

The reality of the situation with this subject matter is that the justification for the proposal was based on inadequate assessments, predictions and imperial material and in truth, the plant and any water manufactured thus, is not required. The proposed utilisation of a public-private partnership (PPP) is pushing up the overall cost of the plant, will push up the cost of water manufactured at the plant and will generate substantial profits for investors in the plant. If the proposal was required, the best option would have been to publicly fund, own and operate the plant. In addition, residents will not be given the option to choose where the water they drink comes from, these end users were not consulted at any stage and international law advises against the private ownership of water as it is a basic human right to access clean, free, drinking water. All of the above is entirely factual.

My personal opinion is an entirely different matter and not one up for discussion here on WP. I maintain that my edits have been unbiased and well-informed and would go so far as to suggest that they may be better informed than those of other editors of the article in question. I'll also include this response on your talk page. Cheers :] Nick carson (talk) 11:17, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Leck mich im Arsch

[edit]

Regarding your addition of a "See also" item to Nigel Tufnel in the article Leck mich im Arsch:

I reverted that edit because it was spurious, speculative, and unsourced. In that reversal, I also improved many minor aspects of the article. You then reverted all of these with the edit summary: "It obviously inspired it"; I assume you meant that the Mozart canon inspired Tufnel. This is not supported by the Tufnel article, where you added the reference to this canon yourself.

If you suggest that Tufnel was inspired by the canon, you should provide sources. I'm going to revert the article Leck mich im Arsch to its previous version. I also suggest you remove the speculative comment about it in Tufnel's article. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 06:16, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 415 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Gordon Fee - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Marilyn Hickey - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Fair use rationale for File:DamnedYoungOnes01.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:DamnedYoungOnes01.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:21, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Flinders Island.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Flinders Island.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:33, 18 November 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:33, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Jim Jones' Cabin.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Jim Jones' Cabin.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 10:08, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi One Salient Oversight, when you upload a new and different version of File:Hk417.jpg, you did not change/update the image description. Is your image version also a promotional photo, taken from the company website? --Túrelio (talk) 09:05, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Hk417.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Hk417.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone.

Thank you. Nilfanion (talk) 10:36, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Mexican Perforation for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Mexican Perforation is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mexican Perforation until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Damiens.rf 20:47, 20 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for File:Pentecostal Preacher.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Pentecostal Preacher.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:54, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mem Fox

[edit]

I have tried to add some sources to sort out the debate at Mem Fox. I'd appreciate some more opinions here. If I am wrong, no problems, but it seems to be a debate controlled by only 2 people at this point. [[58.160.170.152 (talk) 11:27, 3 October 2011 (UTC)]][reply]

User:UBX/Northern Premier League Division One South, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:UBX/Northern Premier League Division One South and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:UBX/Northern Premier League Division One South during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Barnstar

[edit]
The Original Barnstar
This barnstar is awarded to everyone who - whatever their opinion - contributed to the discussion about Wikipedia and SOPA. Thank you for being a part of the discussion. Presented by the Wikimedia Foundation.

The article Rossendale F.C.‎ has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
