Stalinist architecture

Hi! I'm responsible for that edit adding transliterations (I forgot to log in and the edit would be minor, so I didn't bother) to Stalinist architecture. I'm wondering why you think the transliteration isn't constructive--in general, if text in a foreign language in a foreign script is provided, it is to my mind quite useful to have a transliteration. If you can't read Cyrillic letters, Russian text is nothing but meaningless squiggles on the page--it doesn't give the reader any useful information, not even how the word is pronounced in Russian. (For the record, I know the Cyrillic alphabet, but don't speak any language that uses it; I rely primarily on WP:ROR for this, but I've done it so often I've more or less memorized the correspondences). You could, of course, remove the Russian entirely, but if you're going to include text in a script other than Latin letters, I think it's quite useful to include a transliteration, so the readers know what the letters say as well as what they mean. HI! Sorry I thought that it made more sense but if not sorry! Thank you for correcting me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TurquoiseStone (talkcontribs) 15:31, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

New Page Patrol

Hi. Thank you for patrolling new pages. It's probably not a good idea to be using Huggle for NPP unless you are going to check your work and do all the other expected NPP tasks. Please return to "Scandinavia and the World", rectify any immediate problems and/or tag for deletion if appropriate. Happy editing! . --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 15:56, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

@Kudpung: Hi Kudpung, sorry. That was the first time I'm using that function. I'll fix it immediately. Optakeover(Talk) 15:59, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

That page had been vandalised - the current version was copied from IMDb, but there was a good version in the history. Before speedy-tagging an article, it's worth looking at the history to see whether that has happened; if it has, you can just revert to the last good version.

One other point: WP:CSD#F9 is intended for files, i.e. images. For text copyright violations, you should use {{db-copyvio}} or {{db-g12}}. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 16:48, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

@JohnCD: My sincerest apologies for not taking care when doing it. This happens to be my second ever CSD mistake. Not a good evening for me - far too many mistakes made. I will make sure to check page history every time I make a call on speedy d. Optakeover(Talk) 16:52, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
No worries! Don't be discouraged. NPP is a vital task, all that stands between WP and chaos! JohnCD (talk) 16:57, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

St. Lawrence South

I moved information about St. Lawrence Market North from the St. Lawrence Market South article, to the St. Lawrence North article since it was in the wrong article and replaced it with a link to the article that it's been moved to. Sophie Moxie (talk) 01:05, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

@Sophie Moxie: Okay. My apologies for the reversion. Optakeover(Talk) 12:47, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

Revisions on the My Little Pony episode

Hi Optakeover!

I undid the two previous revisions on Slice of Life (My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic) because the credits for the episode list the official name of this particular character as "Muffins" instead of the thus far fan-established name of "Derpy". I believe it was right, but I won't attempt to re-undo those revisions, and leave it to your judgment.90.10.23.177 (talk) 12:52, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

@90.10.23.17: Hi, thanks for informing me. I have checked and you are right, but if Derpy's name is specially "Muffin" in this episode, maybe you should put in the list of characters, Muffin (Derpy) and use "Muffin" in the rest of the article. Optakeover(Talk) 12:55, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

Gary Alter Bio

Hi -

Thank you for your message - I added the professional bio to Dr. Gary Alter's Wiki page. The purpose of the edits were for the media to make accurate citations - he recently performed Caitlyn Jenner's plastic surgery. Is there a reason why I cannot edit the page?

Please advise, thank you- Erika — Preceding unsigned comment added by Erikanyc (talkcontribs) 13:35, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

@Erikanyc: Fixed. Please ensure all your edits are sourced as per WP:BLP. Optakeover(Talk) 13:38, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

Your recent revert(s)

Why was this edit reverted? Seems constructive, along with most of the other edits from this IP. MusikAnimal talk 14:43, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

@MusikAnimal: At that point of time I had no idea if it was a good or bad edit, but it appeared questionable as from the pattern and the formatting use on the edit. But I reverted it and gave no warning. I would comment that my reversion is within my own stricter limit of revert rule and not giving a warning is to provide the opportunity for the user to remake the edit if it is really meant in good faith. Looking back at the edit I would still revert it because I feel it's not necessary to put the alternate names there since they are already in the infobox. Irritatingly, Huggle new version does not seem to allow me to revert with my own edit summary. Nevertheless I will take more care to note that those 's must be checked closely for good edits. Also I have restored the user's edit. Sincere apologies, and thank you for your note. Optakeover(Talk) 15:21, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
If you feel the edit was unnecessary for some given reason that's fine, but you should revert as good faith and explain why. With Huggle I believe you can hit the Y key and it will prompt you to enter an edit summary. Hope this helps MusikAnimal talk 15:26, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for your advice. It will definitely make my work much easier. Optakeover(Talk) 15:27, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

Tommy Coster's Wiki Page and Discog Page

If you think Melleke voos unrightfully deleted materials on his discog page you should see what he did to his wiki. Some serious vandalism going on here and it's very apparent. Thanks for looking out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:E000:851A:3300:C4DE:5282:87A2:FBF7 (talk) 13:43, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

Victoria University Melbourne revisions -vandalisation by students (saw bragging about it on a Student facebook group)

Hi there just thought you might want to take note of a couple of edits to the Victoria University, Melbourne entry that were made yesterday that were incorrect. I think you reverted to a previous revision (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Victoria_University,_Australia&oldid=6670477000 ) but it was to an incorrect version.

The Vice Chancellor isn't Peter Dinkage, it's actually Professor Peter Dawkins. (see the VU website for his profile page: http://www.vu.edu.au/contact-us/peter-dawkins). You're doing a great job by the way. thanks Cara

@140.159.2.238: Hello, thank you for your note. Yes, probably I didn't check, I had to revert even way back in time as there were vandalism already in place. I did remove what I could at that point of time. Thank you very much for helping out. Optakeover(Talk) 06:37, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

Hia!

Hi there. You messaged me a while back (some number of days ago) about an error that was made via my IP on the "Robbie Amell" page. I'll probably be making an account on here soon, but moreso than anything I am merely a browser, not a creator. That said, I would like to confirm that I was not the one who edited the page, but rather, someone using my computer or IP. I hope you can forgive my mistake and I'm glad you caught it, and again, I'll more than likely be making an account soon to rectify and also prevent any further mistakes. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.47.129.90 (talk) 02:44, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

@69.47.129.90: I believe that IP addresses are shared between you and other subscribers, so when your IP address is changed you received the message that I gave to someone else. In this case, do ignore the message. And yes, it's highly recommended that you create an account if you are interested to edit Wikipedia. Thank you, and enjoy your time on Wikipedia! Kasakela Chimpanzee Community: Gaia

Hi

What is your source for the information on Gaia?

Gigi was another unrelated chimpanzee who died in 1993, I believe and she tried to snatch a newborn Gaia from Gremlin back then along with two other females.

Do you know the name of Gremlins new baby or any other new addition in Gombe?

Thanks

Hi, I edited my page and was wondering what you think about update. Thank you for your comment! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pinkgold7 (talkcontribs) 03:54, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi, it looks so much better now. Well done! Optakeover(Talk) 04:14, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi Nfitz. Just thinking about Kyaw Zin Lwin. Would this be enough? Or I must find sources of him actually playing in the match against another professional team? Optakeover(Talk) 15:53, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

  • No, would need a match report or a newspaper reference. Can be in any language. During the AFD we all completely failed to find any match reports for the league in any language, just results. Normally they are a dime-a-dozen. I suspect we aren't looking in the right place. Nfitz (talk) 15:57, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

@Nfitz: Next time, you can just answer on your talk page as I messaged you there. But thanks anyway. Optakeover(Talk) 16:00, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
