Nowiki & tl
You can wrap your favourite code fragments as <nowiki> code fragment </nowiki> for easier cut & paste, fwiw, e.g.:
- [[Category:Year of birth missing (living people)]]
- #REDIRECT [[]]
- {{subst:refer|type=surname}}
There's also a tempate called {{tl}} which you can use to display a template name on which you can click to read its documentation, whilst preventing it doing its template thing, e.g. to produce {{coord}}, {{cite book}}.

- Thanks, Tagishsimon. I'm now using HotCat which solves the Category one; and I've been working my way through both men and women listed in Australian Dictionary of Biography and have created many redirects. As for surname pages, I haven't created one since I saved the code. Your final suggestion will need my consideration tomorrow, in the clear light of day! @Oronsay: I am hoping you might turn your considerable abilities to the appalling article Australian Women's Register. Improvement is needed because Tom.Reding needs to link to it with the AWR link in the authority control (See Barbara Hanrahan... Ring me if I seem to be talking nonsense. - @MargaretRDonald: I found an article as better source and added categories. Tom also did some edits overnight. I wanted to include The Encyclopedia of Women and Leadership in Twentieth-Century Australia - https://www.womenaustralia.info/leaders/about.html - but ran out of puff! Also, I thought I had an edit clash with you but it was the bot coming through to add the date to the more categories template! Hope what's there now will be enough. Interestingly, I had noted the need for articles on both AWR and Australian Women's Archive Project in Dec 2017 but never got around to doing anything about them! Jillian Green
I got tempted to do Jillian Green (see User:MargaretRDonald/sandbox/Jillian Green). The links to the Turner Galleries had such good texts and so many images illustrating her work.... (See exhibitions). But, there are only effectively four sources: her website, the Turner galleries, the NGA and Cruthers references. It is clear that she has had many major commissions, but the sources are possibly too close to her and not sufficiently many? Hoping you might do something to save the article. (PS. You probably knew it, but unlike the taxonbar, the authority control does not come up in the article preview, clearly the from parameter is no use here.) Mueller's female collectors
Hi @Oronsay: See User:MargaretRDonald/sandbox/Mueller's female collectors This clearly is going to take me forever. (I was unable to do maps for the smiths. Data are entered differently in AVH as compared to MELISR and in fact I doubt if most of their data are entered - nothing corresponding to Winnie Jane could be found). However, the question is whether this format might be acceptable with so many unnotable names... PS Please suggest some suitable categories.. MargaretRDonald (talk) 01:51, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- @MargaretRDonald: I've found and added one category so far. Will seek more if possible. Think the heading over the maps would be better as "Collection sites" or similar. I know it's not the women artists' project but Collections made me think of the Herbaria where the materials reside. Hello, thanks for adding a link to Prof. Martha Clokie on the Arbitrium page. However, I could not find any citation for her making that particular claim. The statement you are querying was in the article when you first created the page, as you can see [here]. I have no knowledge of the subject matter so am not in a position to edit that section of the article. You are welcome to reword the section yourself to better reflect the references you provided - just be careful to edit the current version of the Arbitrium page. Thank you for finding the date of death- I couldn't see it anywhere. I suspect there is more to say about the woman but I was editing as usual from online sources and at first I really struggled to find anything about her. - @Antiqueight: Actually, I found the date through my Ancestry account, then searched for an accessible probate record to use as the reference. I am always saddened when I see the date of birth and details of a woman's life and work, but her death is missing, or just a year given, meaning that she faded into obscurity. - God yes - searching for a woman where she's only listed as Mrs His name or for a woman who marries and then goes into obsurity when she leaves her career because she married... Especially with the tendency of men to give their wives pet names so that she ends up known by a completely different name. Hi Oronsay, First, thanks for adding the project info to the talk page. Second, I reverted most of your changes to the master's name. I generally try to stick to the name as it is in the source. This frequently, very frequently, leads to inconsistency within the WP article. But I do so in case someone, perhaps a genealogist or local historian is searching. It suggests alternatives they might try in their sleuthing, or may even help them find the article in the first place, depending on where they are starting from. (By the way, I have even seen ship's captains vary the spelling of their own name, or that of their ship, and that is nothing compared with the Anglicization of place names.) - Yes, I realised that it I only had one source. I looked around a bit but could not find anything that added value. There was an article with a photo of him with Bob Menzies, but it is still copyright. Anyway, at least there is now a name behind the S H Ervin Gallery. I liked your retitling as well.
