Welcome, and suggestions[edit]

Ok, as promised, hello again, this time on your talk page. I'm sorry you're having such a bumpy welcome to Wikipedia-at-large! I know it's discouraging to see your hard work being nominated for deletion, especially at the end of a term that's felt so harsh for so many people (I hope you've been doing ok). Many articles do survive the Articles for Deletion process (WP:AFD), often because other editors jump in to help with finding sources and rewriting tricky spots. Unfortunately in the case of this article I don't think there's extra work that can be done to save it, because you haven't written a "bad" article; you've just picked a subject who doesn't meet notability guidelines. (At least, so I think - as does the other editor to comment so far.) That's rough.

Some of these guidelines are pretty simple, but in general it can be hard to understand what makes something "notable" or not when you're starting out. If you want to continue editing Wikipedia articles, my suggestion would be that you try enlarging articles that already exist as stubs. It's possible that the subject of an already-extant stub isn't notable, and the article hasn't been deleted because no one's noticed yet, but there are many, many articles of very clearly notable people in Wikipedia that are only a few lines long. If you're interested in working on more Chicana artists, you might try looking for stubs in one of these categories: Category:Hispanic and Latino American artists or Category:Chicana feminists. (I haven't checked these for a promising stub myself, though.)

You might also be interested in WP:WPWIR, which is a WikiProject focused on improving the coverage of women on Wikipedia. They have lists of notable women who don't have Wikipedia pages yet, and you can help out with newly created articles there too. They're friendly and helpful, and they're good at welcoming new editors. Good luck! I hope you stick around. -- asilvering (talk) 23:04, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
