Help me!

[edit]

Hello! I've been making updates on pages about tech people. One page I edited got reverted by a login that appears in red (so seems to be a dead login). Please look at my edits to "Georg C. F. Greve" here and give me some feedback. I made these edits in my sandbox because there was a lot to change on this page, would it have been better to change each part separately so if someone had a problem with something they could choose what changes should be undone? Thanks!

At a glance you added sources that were unreliable, not independent or that do not support what you cited them for, giving a false veneer of verifiability to promotional and unsuitable content. Beyond that, links to a bookstore are not appropriate if you want to cite a book. The removal thus seems entirely warranted. Maybe some of the sources you added were appropriate (I didn't check all of them); then you may want to consider re-adding them one by one after you have made sure that they indeed are reliable, independent and relevant. If Google Books offers a preview of a book, a link to that may be helpful; otherwise there's no need to provide a link for books at all. As an aside, a red username merely means the user hasn't created a user page; it doesn't mean it's a "dead login" or otherwise inferior or problematic account. Thanks Huon, yeah, looking through it maybe I went a little overboard with some of those references. Thanks so much for the constructive criticism, this information and guidance is really helpful. OK, I'll probably go through it with a fine tooth comb sometime this week... Oztismneg (talk) 15:34, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
