Proposed Articles![edit]

Here are three proposed articles that I am looking into for my final Wikipedia project:

The first one is Pennsylvania Abolition Society. This article does fit the confines of a stub article. It gives only a brief amount of information on the topic at hand. I think this would be a good topic, especially for someone new to Wikipedia, because it will give an easy topic for NPOV. Since this is also still an active society, it fits the Notability topic and there are many up to date sources about the history of this society and its place in today's society as well. Since these sources are most likely up to date and current, it will all be verifiable for the Wikipedia guidelines.

This is going to be one of the articles I am going to further look into. This page can be expanded, organized and have a lot of information added to it. There are many current sources and it will fit with the Wikipedia guidelines needed.

The second proposed article is World Autism Awareness Day. The article fits the categorization as a stub as it only provides the objectives of this day and nothing else. This is a new day recognized by the US government, so there will be many up to date and reliable sources. There can also be information provided to expand the article on the creation of the day, what it stands for, what it has done since its creation, etc. This makes it notable, and shows that all information can be verifiable for Wikipedia. It is also a good article for a new user because the information is not controversial, allowing for a NPOV, and it will allow me to focus on the big picture in adding to Wikipedia, versus the small nuances of a complex topic.

This is the second article that I will most likely look into. I think that this would still be a good choice because it is a very current and notable thing, especially since it a very recent government recognized day. It is uncontroversial and could use expansion and organization.

The final article is Superstorm. This article just lists superstorms from the past, but does not list any information about it at all. I think this would be a good article because it gives me the freedom to explore the nature of a superstorm in any way that I would want. It is notable since superstorms are and can still happen. There is a lot of up to date information on these storms and it could be useful to put the information out there since there is a bit of confusion between just a hurricane and a superstorm.

This article has since been recommended for deletion, so I will no longer be interested in pursuing this article. It has since become just a list of list superstorms. I do not want to be working on this article and then have it be deleted on me, so I will most likely try to find another candidate if my other two do not work out.

Final Article Decision[edit]

I have decided to proceed with the World Autism Awareness Day article. I have chosen this because I think it is still a very relevant article to todays society and will be higher trafficked than my other choices. It still fit all the previous requirements set out by Wikipedia and there are many first hand sources to provide information on this topic. There are also a lot of organization and sections that can be added to this site and would be a good first page for a new member to the Wikipedia community.
