Robert E. Ornstein[edit]

Hi, thanks for your additions to Robert E. Ornstein. Please note that external links (eg to the subject's web site and The Idries Shah Foundation's web site) should usually not be added to the main body of the text, and especially not in the lead sentence. Anyhow, thanks again. Regards, Esowteric + Talk + Breadcrumbs 20:27, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your corrections. I am not very familiar with wikipedia policy on external links.
By the way, do you think it would be apropriate to add external links to the Idries Shah Foundation and to the Robert Ornstein Youtube channel ? The youtube channel has several of his interviews about his works and I found it very informative. PA Packard (talk) 07:33, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I also was wondering if you knew in which cases it would be appropriate to add external links to the main body of the text? PA Packard (talk) 07:37, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. The place for external links is the section at the bottom of the article, headed "External links". I've added the YouTube channel since that is directly relevant to the subject, but not a link to the ISF as that is not really relevant enough. That's about as many external links as we want really. Adding external links to the main body may be seen as being promotional (the same with using bold for book titles, rather than just italic). It's a Wikipedia article, not an advert, nor for promotional purposes.
The "See also" section is for internal wikilinks to other articles, so The Idries Shah Foundation is fine there.

Also, any significant facts that are added to the article really need to be cited to independent, reliable secondary sources, for the benefit of readers so they can verify the text, or else they could be challenged by other editors. Esowteric + Talk + Breadcrumbs 08:08, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
