Disambiguation link notification for March 31[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Buff-sided robin, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Diurnal. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 12:49, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Another welcome[edit]

Hello P Barden, I have seen the good work you have done recently on the Buff-sided robin, and would like to encourage you to keep contributing to Wikipedia. I would also recommend that you add a comment to your "User page" which will then lead to you becoming an auto-confirmed user, and turn your user name blue instead of red. It is not a requirement, however you may find it beneficial in the long run, as other editors can then send discrete emails to you through the Wikipedia system. It is less likely that edits would then be reverted by automatic "bots". Regards, Summerdrought (talk) 07:10, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Northern masked owl article and DYK[edit]

Hello, I've come across your new Northern masked owl article and quite appreciated its thoroughness. It's now more developed than the general Australian masked owl article! I was thinking of submitting it to WP:DYK, which highlights new articles. DYK requires an interesting "hook" to pull readers in. For this article, I was thinking something like "... that Northern masked owl chicks hiss to ask for food, while adults hiss to defend nests?", or a more tongue-in-cheek "... that Northern masked owls tend to be found in woolybutt forest?" Are there any facts you find personally interesting? Best, CMD (talk) 15:24, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - the hissing thing should be fine - where to start on what is interesting about masked owls??? --P Barden (talk) 01:36, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well we have to start somewhere! Listed at Template:Did you know nominations/Northern masked owl. It may require your access to Handbook of Australian, New Zealand and Antarctic Birds to verify the wording is correct. CMD (talk) 05:02, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
From HANZABB 'When begging for food, dependent juveniles utter repeated short hissing rasps' and 'birds defending nests hissed with snapping of bill, and also gave sustained rasping churrs interspersed with brief hisses'P Barden (talk) 05:11, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Northern masked owl[edit]

On 24 January 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Northern masked owl, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that northern masked owl (example pictured) chicks hiss to ask for food, while adults hiss to defend nests? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Northern masked owl. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Northern masked owl), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
