March 2015[edit]

Information icon Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Mississippi Department of Marine Resources does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! 220 of Borg 15:31, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Close paraphrasing[edit]

Please see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing as the some text at Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (MDMR) is very close to the MDMR page "About Us" - 220 of Borg 15:54, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Reply[edit]

220 -- I am DMR. Is it okay if our wiki page has the same wording we put on our webpage? I am new to Wiki and page development - thanks for all the tips. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pab.mdmr (talkcontribs) 15:58, 20 March 2015‎
I am not sure. Copyright in USA is not my area of expertise. I looked for a copyright message on the web page, but couldn't find one. If it is 'public domain' then it should be OK, from a COPVIO point, but may be unsuitable for other reasons: "Gollott has worked tirelessly for its vitality" for example is not really encyclopaedic and best avoided See wp:Peacock, for more information. Also Wikipedia:Copyright Faq.

Hi! Thanks for editing! One thing that you may also want to review is how to write in an encyclopedic manner. Please check other articles out and see how they are written. WhisperToMe (talk) 17:17, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion[edit]

Information icon This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident in which you may be involved. Thank you. Joseph2302 (talk) 16:50, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest[edit]

Hi, I understood from your request for page protection that you're editing Mississippi Department of Marine Resources and that you work for that department. If that's correct, please read our guideline Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. It's important that Wikipedia does not simply mirror material available on the department's website, which the posts above suggest may be happening. It would be better if you were to suggest edits on the talk page, but leave the article editing to uninvolved editors. Sarah (SV) (talk) 16:54, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

COI response[edit]

After reviewing the WP:COI it is clear there is a conflict. Purposes for editing this page aligned with the aim of Wikipedia; however, it is appreciated the conflict was brought to attention. A minor edit has been made to correct the only incident cited as being "un-encyclopaedic." Pab.mdmr (talk) 17:15, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
