You can use the File Upload Wizard to upload a picture first. Make sure that you own the image or that the image has the appropriate Creative Commons License or is in the public domain. Otherwise, it might get deleted!

You can try using this primer. No need to read all of it, just the parts you need help with.

Wikipedia:Sandbox is an area where users can test their abilities, users often mistake Wikipedia articles as sandboxes and will test their abilities there. However, the best place to test your editing abilities is Wikipedia:Sandbox. You can start a private sandbox of your own, User:PageInformer/Sandbox. Do Not Vandalize

[edit]

Please do not vandalize Wikipedia as you have done to various articles. If you continue to vandalize, you may be blocked from editing. United States Man (talk) 02:23, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There was no reason for USM to revert you using Rollback as he did. I am striking his warning as it has absolutely no reason to be put here. I will also warn him about his use of Rollback. Sorry for the confusion. gwickwire | Leave a message 02:54, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Since you don't believe me, here you go:[1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8]. Please tell me (although considering vandalism may be harsh on some of these) how these do not constitute a warning. I'm sorry, PageInformer, for being so harsh, but you have made a several unconstructive edits. United States Man (talk) 03:28, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, the editor is new and just misguided. See don't bite the newcomers. He wasn't outright vandalism, at the worst his edits were tests or unsourced. Some of them aren't even against any policy at all! Your warning is harsh. They may be a small bit unconstructive, but nothing easily fixed. You should WP:AGF more often as you've been told before USM. Continue this elsewhere and don't bother him anymore. Sorry for the intrusion PageInformer. gwickwire | Leave a message 03:36, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I know he didn't do it on purpose. I was just warning him about his edits. WP:AGF on my part. I was, although maybe too harsh, just warning him about his edits. I'm sorry as well, PageInformer. And, although we have gotten off on the wrong foot, you could ask me or gwickwire any question in the future and we would be glad to help you. United States Man (talk) 03:44, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I do concur, happy to help anytime! gwickwire | Leave a message 03:45, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I am very confused right now. Please make it clearer to me how I vandalized? PageInformer 01:58, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Imaging instructions

[edit]

I saw that you posted some Article Feedback about having difficulties adding an image to a Wikipedia article. To use a picture on Wikipedia, you need permission from whoever owns it.

  • If it is your OWN picture - then you can just upload it yourself, at "Commons", saying "It is entirely my own work" - at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Upload .
  • If it is NOT YOURS, then the owner can give permission in two ways;
A) They could put it on a website (flickr, or their own site) with an appropriate licence, such as "Public Domain" or "Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike" (that is an option in flickr)
B) They could email us permission. You could ask them to do that, by sending them an email saying something like:
"Hi, I've written a page on Wikipedia, and I'd really like to add a picture - but as Wikipedia is FREE, we can only use freely-licenced pictures. If you have any which you can give permission for, please send me an email back with the text below, and the picture(s) attached."
-Then add a copy of this: http://enwp.org/user:chzz/help/myboilerplate (having filled the form out)
-And send the email (attached picture file + completed form) to: permissions-commons@wikimedia.org

If any of your questions about how to insert images into an article aren't answered in these instructions, please refer to Help:Files and to Help:Contents/Images and media for a master-listing of all pertinent image-use links.
Hope this helps, Shearonink (talk) 16:24, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:2013AdairsvilleTornado-1.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:2013AdairsvilleTornado-1.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:21, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article Citiblocs has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced article about a topic that fails WP:GNG.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Springs Wildfire, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Glendale and Malibu (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
