Welcome![edit]

Hello, Paleofacts, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Paige Williams (author), which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms our use and policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! —C.Fred (talk) 02:58, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

October 2018[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm C.Fred. I noticed that you recently removed content from Paige Williams (author) without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. If you have evidence that the image is not the photographer's own work, please provide it. As far as I can tell, the image appears to comply with Wikipedia's licensing requirements.C.Fred (talk) 02:48, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Paige Williams (author), without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Slowking uploaded the image themselves to Wikimedia Commons. Please also read Wikipedia's guide on personality rights, which generally do not protect the subject. (That said, if Williams were concerned about the image used of her, she could make another image freely available, which we could then use.)C.Fred (talk) 02:51, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon Your recent edits to Paige Williams (author) could give Wikipedia contributors the impression that you may consider legal or other "off-wiki" action against them, or against Wikipedia itself. Please note that making such threats on Wikipedia is strictly prohibited under Wikipedia's policies on legal threats and civility. Users who make such threats may be blocked. If you have a dispute with the content of any page on Wikipedia, please follow the proper channels for dispute resolution. Please be sure to comment on content, not contributors, and where possible make specific suggestions for changes supported by reliable independent sources and focusing especially on verifiable errors of fact. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 03:02, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia without adequate explanation, as you did at Paige Williams (author), you may be blocked from editing. There is no evidence that the license of the image is invalid. If you'd like to discuss why the image is not usable, please do so here. However, please do not remove the image without a valid reason.C.Fred (talk) 03:05, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Photo[edit]

The photo you are trying to use was taken on private property without permission, and may not be used. If you insist upon using a photo, Hachette Books Group can provide one. Do not continue to re-post the photo that you've been posting.

Please provide the replacement image, and we'd be glad to do so. Otherwise, we will use the best free image we have; the uploader indicated that the image was taken in a public setting. —C.Fred (talk) 03:07, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved.

I've escalated this situation to the incidents board to get expert attention as quickly as possible on an unusual situation. I think it's more likely to get a good answer than routing it through the conflicts of interest noticeboard, which was my first thought. —C.Fred (talk) 03:11, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please follow the instructions at WP:Donating copyrighted material and email them the release of the image; then we can use it. —C.Fred (talk) 03:13, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Uploaded and free to use. Again, sorry for the trouble.

Did you upload to Commons, and did you also email them to verify the donation, that the image is now free for everybody to use? —C.Fred (talk) 03:24, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's uploaded to Commons but where do we send the email?

permissions-commons@wikimedia.org
That address is listed at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. —C.Fred (talk) 03:28, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Stop icon
You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia while the threats stand or the legal action is unresolved.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Materialscientist (talk) 05:31, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just to clarify something since you're new, the above block does not directly affect your ability to edit commons as they are separate sites. You could also be blocked on commons if you cause problems there, but it's still okay for you to edit there at the moment. Personally I recommend you simply withdraw your legal threat, but of course that's up to you. Either way, I suggest you continue with the process mentioned above although to be clear, as long as you are blocked here you can't edit here other than your talk page. Any donation will have to be on commons. There is no guarantee we will choose to use any material you donate, but at least it gives us options to consider.
