Nice photos of hackneys, be careful of two things:

1) Galleries are an awkward way to add images, the use of this format works better: [[Image:Imagename.jpg|thumb|Caption]] You can add a specific width like |200 px or indicate |right or |left by adding additional "pipes"

2) Be careful not to do any commercial promotion on wikipedia. Promoting specific living horses, stallions at stud or particular stables gets reverted pretty fast! (wink).

But thanks for your contributions and especially the GDFL photos! More good horse photos are much needed. Consider adding more to Wikipedia Commons. Montanabw 21:49, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and both Hackney pony and Hackney (horse) need photos! The articles need improvement overall if you have time...Montanabw 21:51, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Photos[edit]

Hi! Hope I can help some, I'm not an admin, but I am getting the handle on some of this stuff.

First off, using the gallery tag instead of the individual image tag makes it hard to format the placement of the photos and add captions, plus it is intended for multiple images; a practice wikipedia discourages,as images here should be used to illustrate specific conceps. In the horse articles, creating a gallery tends to result in 10,000 people adding "me and my pony" photos, as if the article were a scrapbook. (Wikipedia commons is the place for massive photo uploads)
The copyright on images is confusing, but short version is that they need to be free to use, even if you retain some rights. To that end, the GDFL license you used is a good one as far as keeping the image from being deleted from wikipedia. It also means that the image may wind up all over the net, so you do want to think about what to put up.
The image tutorials are not models of clarity, but these links may help: Help:Contents/Images and media and Wikipedia:Extended image syntax. I frankly find it about as useful to find someone who is doing what I want, open the edit page and just copy the markup langauge. That's still the only way I can create charts, for example. Good luck! Montanabw 15:23, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
