Runner up honours

[edit]

Hi Paper Back Writer, regarding this edit: I thought it was generally agreed that being a runner-up is not an honour and detracts from the player's full, winning honours. What do you think? Sillyfolkboy (talk) 17:21, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, I didn't know about this so I thought I would just add it in. Thanks for telling me Paper Back Writer 23
I think it's still a topic very much up for discussion. The above case (2nd in league) is harder to argue for but in terms of cups/tournaments the runner-up players do receive runner-up medals, so perhaps they could be included... I'll take this to WP:Footy. Sillyfolkboy (talk) 17:28, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reference merge

[edit]

Hi there PAPER BACK, VASCO from Portugal here,

Thank you for your hard work (especially in references) in Daniel Güiza (especially) and Pedro León. Now, i come to help you, letting you know something i just now found out how to do, it's not very difficult:

When you insert the same reference in different points of story, there is something you can do to store it better in REFERENCES section: so, you have the symbols that define a reference, on each side of the internet link (ref and /ref), the only thing you need to do when the ref is the same is, on the first section (ref), insert refname, followed by anywords you choose, but they have to be the same everywhere the reference is the same (example ref name="LOWE"). If you check GÜIZA's article, you will understand it perfectly, it's not difficult.

Keep up the good work, have a nice week,

License tagging for File:Kit body Spain 0910.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Kit body Spain 0910.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 02:07, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. I saw the article at GAN and took a look at it, when I noticed a problem. The citations are almost entirely bare URLs. They need to be fully formed using the citation templates, with the titles, publishers, accessdates, etc. added in. It's something that would have been pointed out in the GA review anyway, but this way it's already taken care of when someone gets around to reviewing. Wizardman 14:22, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to know how to do refs, take a look at Baichung Bhutia or one of the current GAs like Fernando Torres. Spiderone (talk) 08:40, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I know how to create refs, I don't bother with them to be honest unless the reference will be used more than once, but I will put more time in them from now on. Paper Back Writer 23 (talk) 16:41, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

David Villa GA review

[edit]

Hi! First of all, apologies for taking so long to do the review, but I have placed David Villa on hold. I haven't failed it because it's basically a good article, but there are some problems that need to be addressed. See Talk:David Villa/GA1 for the review. Thanks, ♥NiciVampireHeart21:17, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am still waiting for the references to be formatted consistently in this article before I begin my final read-through. Looking at the references section, about half the references now have accessdates and publishers, and the rest don't. Consistency is needed. Can this be speeded up any? We're approaching three weeks on hold, which is a little long for my tastes, although excellent work has been done so far.
I should also note that beginning on September 17, my on-wiki will be severly limited, about a half-hour a day, so I would like to have the article completed, preferably passed, before then. Otherwise, I'm afraid I will have to fail it, as a) I won't have the time to complete the review, and b) it will have been on hold for four weeks, which I'm afraid is my limit. It's very close to GA status, and if the references were all formatted consistently, I could do my final read-through to pick any issues I missed the first time around. I doubt there will be many, and they will all be minor in any case and easy to fix. Please try and complete this soon. Thanks, ♥NiciVampireHeart14:27, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Do you want me to help out with getting the article to GA - I saw on the GA review that you wanted help. 03md 15:54, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah please, I been busy recently and haven't had much time for this. Sorry. Paper Back Writer 23 (talk) 20:03, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I thought I'd let you know that I've completed the final read-through at David Villa. Once the final issues fixed there are completed, I'll pass the article. Thanks, ♥NiciVampireHeart14:32, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Paper Back Writer 23 (talk) 20:03, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
All issues have been addressed. Congratulations, David Villa is now a Good article. ♥NiciVampireHeart15:31, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I credited you on my user page. Any other articles you plan on working on? Spiderone 16:40, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not at this moment no, I'm not really an avid Wiki editor, I simply thought that David Villa's wiki page was a bit short considering how big a player he is, therefore, being my favourite footballer, I decided to do research on him, and added as I went along to the point where it has reached good status. I'll see what happens though and I'll let you know if I will work on anything. Side note - I regularly edit the Spain national football team page, normally to update stats, as IP users generally update it a bit craply. Hi Paper Back Writer 23, you currently have at least one article up a WP:GAN in the Sports and recreation section. In an attempt to clear out the backlog there, User:Wizardman asked all sports WikiProjects to review at least two articles from that section. I'm now going around and asking anybody with an article nominated under Sports and recreation to review at least one article in that section to help us clear the backlog out so your articles can finally be reviewed faster! iMatthew talk at 15:03, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Hard-Fi - OUATITW - HMV slipcase.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Hard-Fi - OUATITW - HMV slipcase.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:59, 1 June 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 18:59, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Hard-Fi - Better do Better - 7".jpeg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Hard-Fi - Better do Better - 7".jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.
