It's not my "autobiography." I've written some of that in a book, Our Sixties. It's a legitimate entry about someone who certainly qualifies according to Wikipedia's significance criteria, which I suggest you check. Moreover, if you look, you will find that my name comes up in a number of entries already. It's absurd to have links for others who are not nearly as widely-known as I am in the same entries. It's not my autobiography and my name comes up in a number of entries already. Obviously, it's your autobiography. It may not be in book form, but it's a page about you, and I assure you I know the "significance criteria" at Wikipedia. I strongly suggest you find another website to write about yourself. Otherwise, you may find yourself blocked for promotion/disruption. To qualify for even the most basic Wikipedia article, you must have been the subject of multiple independent verifiable sources. You, as you can surely see, are not independent of yourself. Editors are strongly discouraged from creating autobiographies anyway. (I assure you, as an administrator Bbb23 knows what they are talking about). Paul, I've done some poking around, and I don't know if you would satisfy WP:GNG (the general notability guideline), but many of your publications are cited in articles at Wikipedia. So, although I warn you it really is an uphill battle writing one's own autobiography at Wikipedia, you can give it a go, but don't do it on your userpage. The best place for it is in what we call draft space, so you should read how to do that at WP:AFC. Remember, it's very hard to write objectively about oneself and you have the additional hurdle of having to learn Wikipedia style, which is not the same as the real world's in many ways. Also, if you do decide to create a draft, you'll have to be patient because the process of getting feedback from experienced editors is often slow, especially in the beginning of the process. - Thank you. That is a helpful start and it is exactly what I had hoped to get. I will check out WP:AFC re draft space. But I remain baffled by what WP requires by way of "multiple independent verifiable sources," as Schminnte put it. Other WP entries? Professional organization citations for awards from the Modern Language Association or the American Studies Association? Discussions of my work in notable books (like the new one by John Guillory)?   - Sorry, I don't understand what's baffling about that. No, not Wikipedia articles--secondary sources. Sources that are independent of the subject/publication/publisher etc. No, not professional organizations giving citations: those are primary. A newspaper article on a citation, that would be secondary. A discussion in a book (notable or not), or a review in an academic journal--that's secondary.   @PaulLauter, your article will be based on what others have published about you, saying why you are notable (click here). First, gather "sources": what things others have written about you. Second, rephrase that information in your own words, with a neutral (not praising) tone. That info, with the references will be the basis of an article about you. Paul, you are going to have to start by writing up any draft as if it were an encyclopedic article, not an exciting narrative of a person's life full of tongue-in-cheek activities and cool episodes.
