In response to your e-mails, please read WP:NOT#SOAPBOX. A petition that goes on among members of forums and blogs is not significant enough to warrant mention in the article. The way you have been adding it to the article is clearly promotional to garner more signatures, rather than reporting the existence of such a petition with a neutral perspective. —Erik (talk • contrib) - 23:05, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

The link is still not appropriate. Look at a Google search -- this petition has no attention whatsoever, and you are only citing the petition itself for inclusion. This isn't acceptable because then anyone can add anything they feel is important to the article. I appreciate you sharing your background, but you have to consider how Wikipedia works. We limit the scope of information by using verifiable coverage from reliable sources. I understand that time has been invested into this particular petition, but effort does not equate inclusion. The only way for this petition to be included is if it is acknowledged by secondary sources. I pointed to the Google results to reflect the lack of secondary sources covering this film. I suggest instead focusing your efforts on expanding the petition, and if it becomes big enough, surely someone independent of Wikipedia will take note. —Erik (talk • contrib) - 23:34, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Think of it this way. If you want to write an article about yourself, you are a primary source. You can for whatever reason consider yourself important, and you write on and on about your life. Anyone can do this. On Wikipedia, subjects like persons or petitions only garner mention if secondary sources have noted their importance. The petition is a primary source, so you cannot include it on its own merit. It would be like saying, "Paulpazymino thinks this film will be mediocre," on your own. So the petition needs to be verified by reliable sources. In a sense, this is tied to popularity. The more popular a petition, the more prominent it is, the more likely it is covered by secondary sources, the more likely that Wikipedia can cite these secondary sources to mention this now-important petition. —Erik (talk • contrib) - 23:52, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
