Speedy deletion of Rezai Family

A tag has been placed on Rezai Family requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Rezai Family

Hi! Another editor removed the CSD tag on the article, so it should be safe unless it is proposed for deletion by more formal means - and I would expect that this is unlikely. However, we've got fairly strict rules on how to write biographies of living people, which mostly means that everything needs to be sourced. As a result I had to cut the article back a lot to what I could source with the exerts that you provided (which were extremely helpful). Hopefully the article can get bigger again, but we'll need a reference for anything that gets added to make sure that it is able to stay. If you need any help just let me know. :) On a related issue, thanks for uploading the photos - they will be very good for the article. However, when you uploaded them you stated that you were the copyright owner. As they cover a considerable span of time, I just wanted to make sure that this was accurate.

Hello again. I thought I'd reply here rather than on my talk page, just to make it a bit easier. I didn't delete the pictures - just temporarily removed them from the article. We're stuck with a couple of problems which I'd love to help fix, so:

• The first problem you faced was WP:BLP. Because of the risks of defamation, Wikipedia is very, very strict about what we say about living people. In a general sense, the rule is that we can only add material that might be controversial if we provide a source to support it, and if it isn't fully sourced it should be removed. In this case you mentioned the references and even provided a stack of quotes, which was great, so what I tried to do is to reference the things you had said against the material you'd provided and any sources I could dig up myself. The result is much shorter, and isn't as good in terms of content, but meets the policy and won't be deleted out of hand. The next task is to put back most (and hopefully all) of what you had written, but we'll need to provide a specific reference for each point as we do so.
• The second problem is that of copyright of images. I removed the images from the article temporarily, so that I could check with you about their status. The problem is that you added them as the copyright owner, and I wasn't sure if that was the case. (And I gather it wasn't, but you did have permission to release them, so it should be ok). Someone better versed on the image rules here might be able to help, though.

At any rate, I'll put the images back for you now, and I'm happy to help if you need it with referencing formats. As I mentioned earlier, it was a good topic, and I think that it is great for Wikipedia. The normal process, though, is that other editors (like myself) get involved once a new article has been added to help out where we can, which often involves making changes to suit the specific requirements of Wikipedia. - Bilby (talk) 00:46, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

The problem, I'm afraid, is that personal interviews are great for research, and I use them myself when writing material for publication. However, the rule with Wikipedia is that we can only use material which is verifiable. The difficulty is that other people can't interview the family, as you did, so they can't verify what is added as a result of those interviews. Naturally, it is assumed that you are completely correct with what you write, so it isn't a matter of not trusting you, but instead a matter of being able to demonstrate (if needed) that everything is accurate. On the plus side, not everything needs to be verified. When I get the chance I'm happy to have a look at the material again, and I can replace anything which doesn't need further evidence. Then I gather you have some really good published sources, as you mentioned them, so we can use those to verify everything that does need support. - Bilby (talk) 23:06, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Question concerning Rezai family

You created an article on the Rezai family on 17 october 2008. Now I wonder: if these people are of such major importance in Iran, why do they not have a article on the Parsi wikipedia? This makes no sense to me, please explain? Maybe it's creatorn should request an article in Parsi wiki to be created by him or some Iranian users. J.B. (talk) 12:10, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
