Attack page blanking

Please fill free to courtesy blank defamatory content when you apply WP:CSD#G10 tags. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 20:24, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

OK, thanks for reminding me. (Sorry for not responding on your talk page, seems irrelevant enough (not your talk page... you know what I mean :)) Peasantwarrior (talk) 20:26, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Although the subject of the article may not remove a csd tag and doing so multiple times is disruptive, please do not continue to replace it if removed. Whether or not that is an exemption to the 3RR is up in the air. The best thing to do is find an online admin and let them know. It beats having to revert over the tag itself. Alternatively, you may nominate it for AfD in twinkle and note in the nomination that the CSD tag has been removed by the author and you want it A7'd. Hope that helps! Protonk (talk) 23:01, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. It's been deleted anyway in the meantime, so it doesn't matter now, does it? Peasantwarrior (talk) 07:05, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
I deleted it. I was just letting you know for future reference. Protonk (talk) 16:59, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Foxy's Dream

But I am just putting togeth the story of Foxys dream - can you gime me some more time to complete? Fish of Destiny (talk) 14:08, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Maybe you haven't seen this page: Wikipedia:NOT. It, among other things, states that "Wikipedia is not a publisher of original thought". Now, if this dream you speak of is some kind of a book or a movie, that's fine. But if it's just a dream that you or your friend or whoever had, it won't be able to be on Wikipedia. Thanks. Peasantwarrior (talk) 14:13, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Alex Evans

Why did you delete Alexandre Evans? He is a real person and is very famous on the internet and has released a cd. Some people would like to know more about him!!!

I did not delete anything... I don't have the power to delete it, an admin must do it. As I can see, it hasn't been deleted. Yet. However, it is my point of view that it should be deleted soon. Please, see WP:CSD, part A7. Simply put, there is no claim of notability enough to earn an article here. Peasantwarrior (talk) 14:36, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

do you even know who he is?!? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Twilightgirl94 (talkcontribs) 14:39, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

No, I don't. Do you know who Propast d.o.o. is, to be brutal? (They're probably not notable enough to get an article on Wikipedia.) Peasantwarrior (talk) 14:41, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

a lot of people know who alex is. go look at www.alexevans.net or type in his name on polyvore.

Again, having a webpage is not a sign of notability. To further my example even more, you can take a look at Propast d.o.o.'s blog or myspace. That doesn't make them notable. Peasantwarrior (talk) 14:47, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

but why cant he have a article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Twilightgirl94 (talkcontribs) 14:50, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Because, in my view (and it really is only my view - admin(s) get the final word), he really isn't notable enough. I've given you an example above. Do you know how many bands/singers/artists exist on this planet. Surely not all of them require an article. Please, see Wikipedia:Notability (music) and Wikipedia:Notability (people) for more explanations. Peasantwarrior (talk) 14:55, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

well tell me why there is an article about alex evans an austrailian rugby coach? There are people on this site that nobody has and never will know who they are or even care. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Twilightgirl94 (talkcontribs) 14:12, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

The man was, as I understand, a coach for a large rugby team and also for Welsh national team. Even for a person with an obvious lack of sports knowledge like me, that makes him notable. I'm almost certain that people in Cardiff wouldn't agree with "nobody has and never will know who they are or even care". :) Also, it appears you are using WP:Other stuff exists argument. This has generally proven to be a bad argument. Peasantwarrior (talk) 14:16, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

what would you do if i make an article on super satellite? oh and why does miley cyrus have an article? she hasnt really done anything notable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Twilightgirl94 (talkcontribs) 22:29, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

national skills academy

i think you'll find this article now contains no copyrighted material. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Skills_Academy —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alpha-ZX (talkcontribs) 17:59, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

That is not true. It is still compiled from [1] and [2], even though you have randomly changed a very small amount of words, not changing the form of the text. Peasantwarrior (talk) 18:13, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

ok, so what can i do to keep this article up and avoid breaching copyright infringement? this article is relevant to an important uk government initiative. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alpha-ZX (talkcontribs) 18:29, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

This will probably seem like a brutal or a sarcastic thing to say, but... writing it yourself? Peasantwarrior (talk) 18:53, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

if i cant copy writing from a website, and i cant reword it myself, what am i supposed to do? Ive rewritten the info into different wording.Alpha-ZX (talk) 19:20, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Once again, try writing it yourself. You may certainly use these pages as a reference (I'd suggest having multiple references, though), but you can't just change a few random words and think you're not in violation of copyright. But the point is in writing it in your own words. Peasantwarrior (talk) 19:23, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

well ive update it and i think the article can no longer be accused of infringing copyright laws.Alpha-ZX (talk) 19:41, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

OK, let's see what I'll do now. I'll try to find a online admin and direct him to this page and let him decide... I, and my opinion has no weight, am much more satisfied with this article than the copy-pasted text it was. Peasantwarrior (talk) 19:43, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

OK, thats good to know, cheers.Alpha-ZX (talk) 19:45, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

As a neutral third party, if you let me, I could make it totally neutral and 'copyright-free'. NCurse work 20:22, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Weighing in here. I deleted the article because it still appeared (to me) to be a copyright violation. I wouldn't be comfortable userfying it for further work because of the copyright issues. I think starting from scratch would be the best bet.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 00:33, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Geekologie

Hey! I'm new to wikipedia authoring and I'm not completely clear on why the page has been marked for speedy deletion. I know in the past it's been vandalized and had terrible creations but I feel that the article I wrote (while not perfect by any means) is legit. If it's notoriety, can I get some hit numbers from the website to prove its relevance? That it's been created 3 times (at least twice legitimately) might prove that as well.

Like I said, I'm new and I'm looking for guidance so please help me understand why it's being deleted and how (if there is a way) I can create the page without it being marked for speedy deletion.

Thanks for your time. OlYeller21 (talk) 20:20, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Also, I put up a contest for speedy deletion. I tried to put the reasoning on the talk page but it's locked. I put it on the main page because I didn't know what else to do. :-/ OlYeller21 (talk) 20:28, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Just a short response. The page you tried to create speaks of a non-notable blog (there really is no claim of notability whatsoever). You tried to reason using the argument that eBay has an article. Yes, it does. I have two things to say to that - the first is eBay is much more notable, enough to warrant an article in an encyclopedia. The second is, you are trying to use WP:Other stuff exists. This has proven to be a bad argument. Now, I suggest you stop writing articles about that blog since it will be speedy deleted again. When and if it becomes notable, I assure you, somebody else will write an article about it. If you don't stop introducing inappropriate articles, you might find yourself banned. Peasantwarrior (talk) 07:38, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Peasantwarrior, I came to you in good faith and asked for your help. That was the first time I created the article about the blog. I said I didn't understand the reasoning and asked for help. I did have a reference of notoriety which I'm guessing you missed by accident. After talking with an administrator, he cleared up the Wiki's definition of notable which I now fully understand. I appreciate your getting back to me and looking out for Wikipedia but you might want to read Wikipedia:Assume_good_faith#Good_faith_and_newcomers before responding again in such a threatening manner. I fully understand that I might be misunderstanding your tone but it might be something to keep an eye on when helping newbies like myself. Thanks again for your help and time. OlYeller21 (talk) 16:49, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Dude, I respect you and I do think you're misunderstanding me. Maybe I'm too brutal - I really have nothing against you and didn't mean to be unpolite. However, I do believe that honesty is the best policy and, while maybe I was too direct, I tried to make my position as clear as possible. Anyway, I try to assume good faith regardless of anybody's "newbiness". Peasantwarrior (talk) 17:02, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Metroid_(series) To-do list

I wasn't experimenting, nor testing. I was trying to add an item to the to-do list on the discussion page, but the template doesn't seem to be working (or there is some conflict). I refer you to my comment on the discussion page. Perhaps you have some help to offer?
Thanks. Centrepull (talk) 08:26, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

I've removed the speedy delete template from Metroid (series)/to do. To back Centrepull up here, to-do lists are a common feature on Wikipedia. --JD554 (talk) 08:32, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
OK, sorry, I didn't understand what you were trying to do. Sorry once again. Peasantwarrior (talk) 08:36, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

No problem. There is platform info in the text, but I've added the basic info to the infobox. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Centrepull (talkcontribs) 08:38, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Dealing with attack pages

Hi. Where a page about a person is as rude as Jeff Shedosky just now, better than {{db-person}} is to tag it {{db-attack}} (or {{db-atk}} to save keystrokes) and also replace the whole article with the word "blanked." {{db-atk}} gives a suitably fierce warning to put on the attacker's page, and probably helps get it deleted sooner; and blanking the article denies him the satisfaction of showing it to his friends before it gets deleted. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 15:17, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Hey. Yeah, I do it on occasions when I see it, but I must have missed it this time. I swear I do it in other instances. Thanks for reminding me. Peasantwarrior (talk) 17:02, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

I noticed that I left the sandbox comments on my page after testing. I removed the comments, so what else needs to be done to the article so that it won't be deleted.

Nothing... I removed the deletion notice after noticing that this was the only problem with the article. Sorry about that - it was my fault. Peasantwarrior (talk) 15:18, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
