A tag has been placed on Instituto de Pensamiento Estratégico Ágora (IPEA), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. A tag has been placed on Ágora Institute of Strategic Thinking (IPEA) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

March 2009[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. Cerejota (talk) 10:26, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Instituto_de_Pensamiento_Estratégico_Ágora_(IPEA). While objective prose about products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Thank you. Cerejota (talk) 01:58, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not recreate[edit]

You have recreated a delete page three times already. You have been notified of the rules for inclusion in wikipedia. Please read and understand them and do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions. However, the content will be deleted, as it is inappropriate. Once this is deleted for the third, and due to your WP:COI, the community might feel that you are not here to contribute positively, but simply to advertise. This might lead to sanctions, including blocking.--Cerejota (talk) 02:04, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RESPOND

Greetings, This is the second time I create this page, though this time I actually expanded on the previous webpage and put links to prove that the Institute is an actual entity with international renown. I am assuming that it has been marked for speedy deletion because as Jimmy Walles said "it doesn't have enough google prescence or promotes an organization". However, this is because the Institute was created in January 2009 -- this however, shouldn't undermine its already impressive achievements. I invite you to see a few of the interview links on its International Friends profiles and Legion of Liberty news coverage to verify this yourself. The page was created for informative purposes only (its a nonprofit), and I don't believe it should be classified as "publicity" or "lack of presence". If you still don't agree that this page is worthy of remaining in wikipedia, I would greatly appreciate a somewhat detailed explanation. Thanks, Pedro Rivera

  • I have removed the speedy deletion tag to allow you some more time to edit this article and bring it up to Wikipedia standards. Please note that you should not write the article in the first person (in other words, don't write in terms of "we") and use the neutral point of view, which would mean avoiding comments like "exceptional persons" and "a very significant list" which are not suitable for this encyclopedia. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 04:37, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Pedro, please look at our policies, specially WP:CORP, WP:RS, and WP:OR. What Metro referred to is what we call weasel words and peacock terms, but these are about how to write an article, not reasons to include. In general, in order to include an article, notability and sourcing requirements need to be met. Usually the community won't delete even if there are no sources if a websearch shows enough trivially available information. However, even with the significant number of native Spanish speakers in English Wikipedia, we have been unable to at this moment for your Institute. This is probably due to the recent founding of the organization: there has not been enough time for un-involved, third-party
Furthermore, please read WP:COI and understand how it applies to you. Resist the temptation to open an anonymous account: WP:SPA and WP:SOCK show what happens when we identify this.
My suggestion is that you wait until which time your organization becomes notable. In the meantime, there are plenty of work to be done in wikipedia on other articles. --Cerejota (talk) 12:08, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Response to question on my user page[edit]

Mr. Rivera,
It is not that I am against your nonprofit, it is simply the fact that as you seem to be a member of this organization, you providing nearly all the material in it, and detailing it to an uncyclopedic level, makes this a NPOV violation. If this article is to stay, it must be written from a third person, someone who is not affiliated with the IPEA and does not actually know anyone who is a member of it. If you can, please rewrite the article to a small summary about the organization, and no advertisement. I must support a speedy deletion of this article if this is not done, and then a creation protection if you continue to recreate this page. Thank you. AeonicOmega (talk) 05:21, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Response[edit]

Ok, Thanks for the explanation.. I didn't know (I will delete this page eventually, but I corrected the page and set it in third person -- Do you think this fits encyclopedic format? That way my next article won't be as bad). As for the advertisement.. which part are you referring too?

I know you probably volunteer for this, so thanks for you time.

Cheers,

Pedro Rivera

Deletion[edit]

I've deleted the article again. It is promotional in tone, full of claims of success unsupported by independent in-line references, and it did not provide independent verifiable sources that it meets the notability guidelines. It is for you to demonstrate notability. jimfbleak (talk) 07:08, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also WP:CORP, which is the specific notability guideline on organizations.--Cerejota (talk) 12:09, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
