This map is a fragment, with edit, from map entitled 'Sarmatia et Scythia Russia et Tartaria Europaa', from German edition of Philipp Clüver's (1580-1623) famous Introductionis in Universam Geographicam, Wolfenbüttel, 1661; first published in Leiden in 1624. Helon

[edit]

Your new article Helon looks good in several ways, but it has no lede and no talk page with WikiProject templates. Please fix these things before I do a review, if you can, or leave a reply for me right here. --DThomsen8 (talk) 14:23, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Without a talk page with WikiProject templates, I am reluctant to review this article, which clearly has a large variety of subjects for the talk page. Please reply right here.--DThomsen8 (talk) 01:56, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please tell me what WikiProject templates are appropriate for the Helon article, or add them yourself. --DThomsen8 (talk) 16:48, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Helon

[edit]

I have a couple of items of general advice for you:

  1. When indicating the pronunciation of a word, it is best to use the International Phonetic Alphabet (see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Pronunciation for more information). In the United States, most people speak with a rhotic accent and, if they saw a statement that "Helon" is pronounced "Hair-lon", they would pronounce that r sound at the end of the first syllable even though it does not belong there. See Talk:Sade Adu#Pronunciation for comparison.
  2. A category entry such as [[Category:Surnames|Surnames by culture|Jewish surnames|Helon]] will not parse correctly. If you want to put an article in Category:Jewish surnames, for example, you should just put [[Category:Jewish surnames]] at the end of the article. Putting the hierarchy of categories that that category belongs to will result in errors. See Help:Category for further information. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 05:43, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Helon, continued

[edit]

I looked up the Hebrew spelling of the name. In Genesis, the name begins with an Aleph instead of a He, and in Numbers, the name begins with a Heth most of the time and an Aleph once. So I would like to know what your source is that says that this name is supposed to start with the Hebrew letter He as the Helon article claims. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 16:21, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
