I saw that you added the WikiProject Schools userbox and your signature to Dakota Hills Middle School. Userboxes should be used only on user pages and signatures should be used only on talk or discussion pages. Once you've been here for a while, you'll get a better feel for how things are done, but from what I can see, you are off to a great start.

If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. OK then,

I have updated the image to relfect the source, in the process adding the needed liscence information and removing the iminent deletion warning tags. You may place this image back in the article if you so wish to; be aware that if it is not in an article though it will be deleted as an orphaned image since it claimed under fair use. If this is a screenshot of GFDL software, and has no non-GFDL elements, shouldn't it use a GFDL image licensing tag? Gimmetrow 22:53, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

GFDL is Gnu Free Documentation License. But my mistake, I guess it's actually GPL - Gnu Public License.

Anyway, the image is tagged with a "non-free" licensing tag. If the non-free tag is correct, then the image page needs to have a fair use rationale and specifically list each page where it's used. If the tag is incorrect, and the image is under GFDL or GPL or something equivalent, then it needs to use a "free" tag to avoid these problems. I don't really know for sure that a screenshot of open source software is necessarily free, since a screenshot involves some things beyond the software alone (such as the window rendering engine, which is part of the operating system and may not be licensed free). But that's the solution as far as I can tell - either change the tag to something "free", or provide a "fair use rationale" including page links. Gimmetrow 23:59, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

If the screenshot really has no non-free issues, the appropriate licensing is probably {{GPL screenshot}}. I've switched the licensing assuming that you're right, and tidied the page. Gimmetrow 01:19, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

However, I would add that I'm not sure this is really correct if the screenshot is taken on a non-free OS. If the game uses any library in the OS to do any rendering, the image in the screenshot partly depends on that library, and so the licensing would seem to partly depend on that library too. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'.
