Welcome![edit]

Hi, Perfect T, Welcome to Wikipedia!

Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you enjoy the encyclopaedia and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ; plus, if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions). There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Also, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page.

Additional tips[edit]

Here are some extra tips to help you get around in Wikipedia:

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.

Current open tasks[edit]

You can help improve the articles listed below! This list updates frequently, so check back here for more tasks to try. (See Wikipedia:Maintenance or the Task Center for further information.)

Help counter systemic bias by creating new articles on important women.

Help improve popular pages, especially those of low quality.

Good luck.

Hi, I see you had one of your first edits reversed already and that a few edits later, you put your name on the Editor review list with the comment, " I know I am new but I would like some help and input in my writing etc. I feel totally alone in this."

My welcome message above may give you some ideas about things you could do -- everything from little grammar and spelling clean-ups to writing new articles. Clicking on each of the bold terms such as "Wikify", "Cleanup", etc. should take you to some information on what's involved. The "backlog" links should take you to the list of outstanding items and you can pick if there's something that particularly appeals to you.

Lack of notability is a surefire way for a new article to get quickly deleted, so take a look at Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Notability (software). I suggest you add content as necessary to your two new articles to ensure they don't get axed for notability. You should make sure that you back this up with a citation that meets Wikipedia's rules for content -- either on the talk page, an external links page or as an inline link in the text. See the following:

By the way, you don't have to memorize these! Just a quick skim of each will give you what you need to know for now.

Finally, I must formally note that the message you left

"yo: I'm not making a test, son. That shit was dope!"

on AbsolutDan's talk page in response to his note at the top of this page probably breaks several Wikipedia guidelines; you really shouldn't write those sorts of things on Wikipedia talk pages. Having said that, however, I must say that I just about choked laughing. (I think you'll find that AbsolutDan's a very nice person, by the way).

Again, welcome to Wikipedia.

citation needed tags on Frost Building[edit]

In general, we don't require citations for factual information that is trivial in nature, easily verifiable, and/or entirely uncontroversial. In this article, you've tagged all three sentences of the stub with {{fact}} tags.

Do you believe that the building doesn't contain the Ministry of Finance? Do you believe that the street addresses are incorrect? Do you believe that the building is not named for the former Premier Frost?

The first two pieces of information are readily verified by an individual walking past on the street; the last one might require inspection of a dedication plaque. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 18:18, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You've violated the three revert rule in the Decline of the South Beach Scene article (you're currently standing at 4 reverts). Technically you should be blocked for this, but since you haven't been warned yet, let this be your first and only warning. - Richfife 20:27, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, you're at 3 reverts in the last 24 hours. Nevertheless, your reverts are disruptive and may get you blocked. - Richfife 20:47, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Citation tags[edit]

You seem to be very familiar with Wikipedia practices and policies, particularly for someone with so few edits in your history. Nevertheless, you seem to be running into difficulties absorbing and acculturating to a few of the principles of the way our collaborative project works.

To wit, it's generally considered disruptive and unhelpful to add {{fact}} tags to every sentence in an article – as you've chosen to do here and here – particularly after you've been advised to be more specific about your concerns.

Edit warring over the insertion of personal commentary while using misleading edit summaries (as you've done here) is also not a good idea.

Finally, it's never appropriate to misrepresent the statements of another editor (even in your edit summary), as you've done here.

I do hope that you'll come to understand that this is a serious project, with serious aims. I hope that you'll decide to contribute positively to Wikipedia in the future. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 21:47, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
