License tagging for Image:Hammerfest panorama pho.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Hammerfest panorama pho.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 11:06, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi Perhols. This is a nice picture. Can you, however, describe what kind of wasp this is? Many types of wasps exist and in order for this to become f.x. Featured Picture we need more info about this specie of wasp. --80.209.164.33 08:21, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, where was this image taken? If on the outer Trondheimsfjord islands, that would make it a Lagopus lagopus variegatus. Otherwise, it would be nominate L. l. lagopus. Can you add the locality on the Commons page description and the scientific name in the gallery at Willow Grouse? Thanks in advance! Dysmorodrepanis 12:29, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a great image, however generally it is against policy to leave a water-mark on images. Please remove the watermark or the image or it may be deleted. For more reading see: wikipedia image policy:

Also, user-created images may not be watermarked, distorted, have any credits in the image itself or anything else that would hamper their free use, unless, of course, the image is intended to demonstrate watermarking, distortion etc. and is used in the related article. All photo credit should be in a summary on the image description page.

Howdy, the image Image:Common seals pho.jpg also contains a watermark. If you can upload a non-marked image, that would be fantastic. As noted above, image use policy does not allow watermarks on user-created images. Thanks, --TeaDrinker 20:57, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NowCommons: Image:Siberian Huskies .jpg

[edit]

Image:Siberian Huskies .jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:Image:Siberian Husky pho .jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[Image:Siberian Husky pho .jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 14:07, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You for the Wikipedia Picture

Hello, My name is Duane Hurst and I recently made a free (non-commercial) English web site to share information with people. I added links to your Wikipedia/Wikimedia freeware picture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Baobabtre_b3599.jpg). I also gave credit to you on my web pages for your work. Thank you for sharing with the public. My website is:

http://www.freeenglishsite.com/

I add pictures such as yours to one of the following major sections of my site: 1. World section - contains information and over 10,000 images of every world country and territory. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/world/index.htm

2. USA section - contains information and images of every USA state and territory. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/world/usa/index.htm

3. English section - "Mel and Wes" lessons in conversation format. Stories are located in various USA states and world countries such as China, England, Germany, Japan, Mexico and Thailand. Each lesson has many slang terms and idioms, which I link to my Slang Dictionary. This eventually will have over 5,000 terms. Currently, it has about 3,000 slang and idioms. I regularly add new lessons and slang terms. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/english/lessons/index.htm Slang Dictionary link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/english/slang/Eslang_a.htm

Prior to retirement, I taught English at several private and public universities in the United States.

Please share this free site with your friends. I hope all will enjoy the pictures and find the English information useful. Sincerely,  Duane Hurst in Utah, USA
