Walter Oesau place of burial

According to the German Wiki article on the Invalidenfriedhof Cemetery, Oeasau was burried in Berlin. Can you check your sources please. MisterBee1966 (talk) 09:06, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Oops, sorry please have a look at the German article about the Invalidenfriedhof. Oesau is listed in the table. That is what triggered my question. MisterBee1966 (talk) 16:24, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Guernica

Why fighter pilots? Why not bomber pilots? Dapi89 (talk) 12:51, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

I still don't quite understand. You say later in Weaver years, but Guernica occurred after Wever was killed. This was official doctrine at the time of and after Wever's death. As I understand it, military targets, not civilians, were the focus of the operation. As for personal opinions of fighter pilots I have no idea. They might be irrelevant. I don't think (baring official doctrine in mind) that they would have much to say about it. Any opinons formulated might have been made in retrospect and effected by th common perception of it as 'terror' bombing - the myth is still strong. Dapi89 (talk) 13:38, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
Sorry for expressing my opinion here. Hermann Hagena, author of Jagdflieger Werner Mölders – Die Würde des Menschen reicht über den Tod hinaus, the book that tried addressing Mölders involvement at Guernica, came to the same conclusion. Guernica happened before Mölders went to Spain, but thatz is beside the point, the message is valid nevertheless. The Luftwaffe targeted Guernica primarily, if my memory doesn’t fail on me, to destroy the strategically important cross junction. The bomb pattern detailed in his book with maps marking the target clearly indicates this. The pattern is a cross with the focal point at the vital junction. The losses among the civilian population must be considered collateral damage. By no means do I want to express a pro German bias opinion here, but I doubt that the intentions were to bomb the civilian population. MisterBee1966 (talk) 13:53, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
I'm just guessing. I have no appropriate material to say if or when German pilots ever felt guilty about or what they felt during or before the operation. Sorry. Dapi89 (talk) 14:25, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

Two articles on same subject

I believe that Luftflotte 1 should bet he main article! My interpretation is that the other article is only a subset in time and space of the first. It may at some point have its justification but right now both are stubs. I see no need for both. MisterBee1966 (talk) 13:29, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

I think a merger would be the correct way to go about this. Maybe leave a note on the WPMILHIST discussion page as well. MisterBee1966 (talk) 13:35, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
I added a merge template to all the respective articles. I think if we wait a while and nobody objects it is safe to merge. MisterBee1966 (talk) 17:47, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
