It's actually Indian English. Many such articles are deleted out of Wikipedia editor systematic bias, simply because British/American/Australian/&c. editors cannot read Indian English, as you weren't able to. Sometimes the articles really are tripe. But sometimes they are articles on valid subjects that are simply in a dialect of English that many Wikipedia editors don't understand (but that 100–350 million people who have Indian English as L1/L2/L3 might ☺). - Hmm. I would have thought that my reading comprehension at least equals that of a 12th grader. Now, of this article I cannot make any sense. Is it a historic town? Where? How big? If Indian English is what WP claims it is then I understand it perfectly well why-because me I live in an area of the world where there is a quite similar dialect spoken all over the place. But if you refer to something else and it is so fundamentally different, would it make sense to set up an Indian English Wiki?
Having said that, I see that you are quite an experienced WP contributor. Do you want to say Parvathipuram Utsav has any merit, and that I should not have prodded it?--Pgallert (talk) 08:44, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- The place is Parvathipuram, and no I wasn't saying that. Whatever verifiable information on Parvathipuram's annual festival that there is probably belongs in Parvathipuram. (If the article content were verifiable, that would have meant merger, rather than deletion, of course. See User:Uncle G/On notability#Dealing with non-notable things.) Conflict of Interest
Windhoek! My older brother Robin visited there as well as the Namib Desert three years ago and absolutely loved it. I hope to visit myself someday. But to our business. I have edited for two of my family members pages, Werner Krieglstein and Tom Krieglstein, and do not hide that fact. My name is stated clearly in my user page Dkriegls which is attached to all my edits. I mostly edit for things that mean something to me, as do most editors. However, before I even considered doing the edits for these two pages, I spent a long time getting to know the Conflict of Interest policy page as well as the Living Biography policies and the NPV. In so doing, I have edited both pages with great caution by only using directly cited sources and using almost no adjectives or statements except those lifted from verifiable and original sources. I think you will find both articles only contain info garnered from such sources and nothing more. I have engaged in discussions with other editors about Notability of each article and would be happy to discuss COI with you. Feel free to contact me about any other questions you might have, I like to think of myself as very helpful and approachable. - Namibia is a beautiful place, you're absolutely right. I never regretted "going into exile". - Both pages are patrolled now, and I have refreshed my knowledge of WP:COI; you're not in violation of it. However, I fear this issue will come up again and again. Every one of your edits is snatched by some SpamBot for the obvious relation of the login name to the articles' titles. Also, WP:RC patrollers will pick up every contribution of yours and have to check the pages in question. Basically I'd like to suggest three things (only my opinion, I do not have any special authority on WP):
- Articles from *kriegl* about *kriegl* must be much better than average because they will be checked and challenged by many users. As notability is basically the main criterion this must be established crystal-clear in the first line of the respective articles. This has been achieved in case of Werner but I would rewrite the first sentence.
- Tom's article contains a collection of notability claims for disconnected events, none of which in itself warrants an article as per WP:N. From my perspective, your point is that the multitude of events like Obama rally, 3rd runner-up in a TV show, co-founder of Swift Kick is what satisfies this guideline, but that is not what it is about! One doesn't become notable in WP by being connected to several unnotable events, not even by being connected to a notable event (Obama rally) in an unnotable manner (being a spectator, however prominent). I'd suggest you establish the notability of one of his achievements (for instance by writing an article about Swift Kick, or about APCA) and then point to this in the first line of Tom Krieglstein.
- As every of you edits on these pages will be picked up by (and cause work for) patrollers, I suggest you edit these pages in as few edits as possible. 20 minor edits will cause 20 entries in the spam list, one will only cause one.

Thank you very much for you help! Your suggestions are great and I will take them to heart. I figure it is best for me to suggest edits on the discussion page instead of doing any edits myself. That way I step back from the ledge of COI instead of standing right on it. I probably will go ahead and reformat the references as Suntag has suggested since their ease of use is pertinent to checking my sourcing on information used in the article. - As the article is already gone I cannot see the changes you suggested. When I came across the article it was a biography that did not meet the inclusion criteria for academics. If an article has been recreated, how do I find out how it looked before the deletion?

The undo link in the page history seems not to work for me. I tried it right now on KCNQ but got an empty page, status message "done", original article unchanged. I then reverted manually. Do I need to be admin to revert vandalism edits per undo?
- No, anyone can use undo. The servers are going a bit flaky right now, with slowdowns and Wikimedia error message screens si it may be you just happened to have done this at a time that there were difficulties. Of course, you didn't make any edit I can see to KCNQ, but you did successfully revert KNCQ (two different articles). Is it possible that after you went to check whether your edit worked, you confused which article you had edited?--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 13:24, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- Umm, I think I confused it only in my help request, KCNQ appears as an unvisited link in my browser. Thanks for the answer, after all, it was a very bulky edit, the servers might not have wanted to serve this. - Well, undo often doesn't work because intervening edits have affected the actual section you want to undo (the software can't parse this), but when that happens you don't get a blank screen marked with "done"; you get a targeted message which says "The edit could not be undone due to conflicting intermediate edits." See if you can replicate the error. Spend a few minutes at RecentChanges and I assure you, you'll find things to test it on fast. Repost the helpme (or ask at the help desk) if it happens again. - Just tried it on two fine specimen of unconstructive edits, it worked. Unfortunately, RC patrol is not an option for me, my Internet is slow, my computer is slow, and I am slow. The moment the page is loaded most of the stuff is already back to where it should be. My utmost respect to people who devote their time to this. - You're welcome. I personally do not like RC patrol, and I also respect the effort that goes into it but it's not for me. Are you still using a regular modem dialup connection!? I don't think I could stand it. Once you graduate to a fast connection it's like taking off chains that you never really knew were that heavy. - Hookup to the service provider is not the problem but the country as such has only a single fiber link to the rest of the world, running at somewhat around 250 MBps, plus a few satellite links with bandwidth not to speak of.
