Anglophone Exodus
I removed your text from Anglophone exodus and redirected the page to Quebec diaspora. There was no exclusive "Anglophone exodus" from Quebec in the time frame you suggested but a major exodus of Anglophones along with people from various ethic groups and many French Canadians Interprovincial Migration by Language Groups Province of Quebec, 1966-1991. Collectively, it can only be described as a "diaspora". I intend to expand the article as soon as I get a chance but in the meantime, please feel free to add to the text on this subject. Thanks. How can you say that an Anglophone exodus from Quebec "never happened", when in your own link it shows that twice as many Anglophone Quebecers as Francophone ones (450 000 anglo vs 220 000 francophone) in this timeframe, when the anglophone minority comprises only 10% of Quebec's population. So, the exodus was mainly (2/3) Anglophones, especially more important when we consider that Anglophones are only one in ten Quebecers. The Anglophone exodus must be considered in relation to the Anglophone community rather than to Quebec as a whole.

Anyway, if you look just a bit further down on that same page that you linked to, it shows that Francophones were almost entirely replaced by new arrivals, leaving a deficit of just 40 000 francophones, while there were still over 200 000 anglophones missing even after the new anglo arrivals were considered. Don't you think that 300 000 people leaving out of just 700 000 people to begin with is a considerable amount? It's over 40% of the English population! And, that's if you include the new Anglophones who came to Quebec. If you look at it from a cultural point of view, these new arrivals don't necessarily form part of the Anglo-Quebec community (since they may be American and Ontarian students who don't indentify with the native English community). In that case we are looking at a loss of nearly half of the native-orn Anglophone minority in Quebec.

But there was "no" Anglo Exodus? Please.--70.55.60.176 14:51, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
