Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as VT iDirect, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a copy from http://www.idirect.net/en/Company/Press-Room/Press-Releases/2009/Release-365.aspx, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL), versions 1.3 or later then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details at Talk:VT iDirect and send an email with confirmation of permission to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or that the material is released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:VT iDirect with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:VT iDirect.

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:VT iDirect saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! 91.85.160.75 (talk) 13:55, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Since we do not yet have verification of permission by the processes set out above and sufficient time has passed since the placement of the notice, the article has been deleted for copyright concerns. This deletion is not necessarily permanent. If you have already sent a letter to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) and CC-BY-SA, the article will be restored when that letter is received and processed by the Wikimedia Communications committee. Likewise, if you have not yet sent a letter, you still may (or resend it, if you believe your original may have been lost), and the article will be restored when that letter is received and processed.

As Wikipedia does not require proof of identity on account creation, it is essential that we receive external proof of authorization in order to ensure that we remain compliant with US Copyright law. It is also essential that we verify that copyright holders understand the extent of the release they are authorizing, in that GFDL permits modification and reuse in any forum, even commercial publication, as long as authorship credit is maintained.

Please note that once permission is verified, the material may be evaluated and altered to meet Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Although we appreciate donations, we cannot guarantee that material donated will be retained.

If you have questions about the verification procedure, please feel free to contact me at my talk page. Alternatively, you might address them at the talk page of the copyright policy, which is generally monitored by volunteers experienced in processing such matters. Thank you. Update: A day late, the letter has hit the inbox. However, further licensing is necessary in order for us to retain this material past June. If you sent the permission letter to us, please read and respond to the reply you've received. Thanks. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:35, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on VT iDirect, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 21:02, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated VT iDirect, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/VT iDirect. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. - Dank (push to talk) 21:43, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hiya. I know this is frustrating, because someone has done a lot of work on this article, and I believe this product clears the "notability" hurdle, but there's one more hurdle to clear to avoid deletion. Wikipedians have a gut reaction to anything that even vaguely resembles a company brochure, and the resemblance here is still more than vague. Read WP:NPOV, and I hope you'll participate in the WP:AfD discussion (click on the link in the heading). You're obviously willing to work with us, and if you've got more time, we may be able to work out the bugs. - Dank (push to talk) 21:47, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(I've copied that to my talk page; reply there if you'd like, and WP:N? is also a good place for advice.) - Dank (push to talk) 21:50, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I still don't understand why else needs to be done to make this piece more 'acceptable'. Someone keeps deleting my reference of the idirect website, yet that's the source. We also have permission from an idirect employee to use the content. This is making so sense!!! Also, the link above that says it is 'copied' from doesn't even work, nor have I ever been on that link.

A tag has been placed on VT iDirect, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

A tag has been placed on VT iDirect requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

VT iDirect

[edit]

Hi Photoguy,

The article VT iDirect was not deleted by me. While I did mark the page for speedy deletion under WP:CSD#G4, an administrator actually had to remove the article from Wikipedia. This article was recently removed under WP:AFD. The recreation of material which the community has reached a consensus to delete is makes the article eligible for deletion again. Since the community seemed to have a problem justifying WP:N in reference to your article, and the fact that it is written like an advertisement or press release and you have not addressed either issue, the recreation was deleted. Thank you. ERK talk 20:14, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please explain why VT iDirect was deleted again? I read through the comments and reasons it was deleted the first time and tried to rememdy the issues when re-posting. Please explain what Wikipedia has against me?!

Thank you.

As far as I could see, it was substantially the same as last time. I would suggest that you create the article on your userspace (user:Yourusername/Sandbox) and build it from there. Then it won't get deleted. Hope this helps. GedUK  20:14, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your note at my talk page

[edit]

Hi. Since the concerns that led to the deletion of this article do not bar recreation in user space for you to work on it further, I have restored it and moved it to User:Photoguy11579/VT iDirect. As you know, this article was subjected to a deletion debate, where consensus of the community was that it was unacceptably promotional. While the subject may be notable (this particular article would be governed by the notability guidelines on companies), you need to be careful to neutrally present information about it. For example, the last version of your article says, "iDirect's satellite technology can provide good solutions..." Who says this? Unless a reliable, published source that is not connected to your organization says this, we cannot include such text. Wikipedia's articles do not make value judgments about their subjects, but only report the judgments made by others.

If I were working on this article, I would make clear whether the company has received significant or widespread coverage in secondary sources that are reliable and independent of the company (excluding company PR releases and information solely available on the company website). (If it has not, it may not be eligible for inclusion for that reason.) Since you are connected to the subject, you will need to be particularly careful to approach it neutrally and without undue promotion. Critical evaluation of the company can only be included if it has been made by others who have no particular reason to want to promote the company (and you should indicate who those others are and when and where they said it) and if it is balanced. In other words, if people are saying bad things about the company, you need to report that, too.

I have seen some contributors with a clear connection to a company get valuable feedback by asking for help at the conflict of interest noticeboard. What I would recommend you do do, if you believe the subject meets our notability guidelines and you think you can present it neutrally, is rewrite it, adding secondary sources and making sure it is neutral, and then ask contributors at that noticeboard if they believe that it meets policies and guidelines. If so, you might either ask one of them to move it into article space or move it there yourself. But I would not recommend you move it there without first getting some feedback about it. If an article is created there that does not address the concerns that led to its deletion, it will simply be deleted again, and it may result in the space being "protected" to prevent new articles being written there, which will complicate the production of a neutral version.

Although this material has been placed in user space to make it easier for you to try to bring it in line with policies and guidelines, it will not remain here indefinitely. If you do not work on it relatively soon, you may find that it has been deleted again. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 00:52, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. As I said above, I would recommend that you request feedback on the article at the conflict of interest noticeboard. Administrators have authority in some matters, such as speedily deleting articles that clearly do not meet our content guidelines and policies, but the community determines most content issues. My opinion on this matter would have no more weight than any other contributor's, and as this is not an area I routinely work, you will have better exposure to contributors experienced in conflict issues there. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:02, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Quenhitran. I noticed that you recently removed some content from IDirect  with this edit, without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. —ALittleQuenhi (talk to me) 17:34, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Hello! Just curious, seeing as you've been working on the iDirect (and the VT iDirect) article for seven years... do you work for them? Are you paid by them, or do you know the people at the company? Happy editing! HappyValleyEditor (talk) 06:49, 24 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - No, as I've stated multiple times, I'm in the satellite industry, not an employee. It frustrates me that this page keeps getting deleted when others in the satellite industry don't. Seems to me like some folks, perhaps their competitors, are playing foul and working to delete the page. Photoguy11579 (talk) 08:57, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:Photoguy11579/VT iDirect, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Photoguy11579/VT iDirect and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:Photoguy11579/VT iDirect during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 08:08, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
