Petar i Zli Vuci

[edit]

Mister Banović, since this is not the first case that a band member edits an article about a Serbian rock band on Wikipedia, I would like to point out to several things concerning your work on Wikipedia.

First of all, I would like to thank you for your contributions on Wikipedia, but before I start discussing anything about the article Petar i Zli Vuci, I would like to give an advice to read several articles concerning the Wikipedia polices, which should help your future work on the encyclopedia: Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, Wikipedia:Ownership of articles, Wikipedia:Do not create hoaxes, Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources, Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Party and person. I would like you to pay special attention to the article Wikipedia:Autobiography since you are editing an article about your own band.

Now, concerning the article Petar i Zli Vuci, I would like to point to several important issues. The first one concerns the references to your edits. If you read the policy on Autobiographic articles, you will find that the "Contributing material or making suggestions on the article's talk page is considered proper—let independent editors write it into the article itself or approve it if you still want to make the changes yourself." Therefore, I recommend you for any further edits that, since you do not have external references and rely on your knowledge on the band, you add all the suggestions on article changes on the Petar i Zli Vuci talk page. Editing without references is a form of vandalism. Be it a band member or anyone else, the rules are equal for all users.

Concerning the translation of the band, I do not find Peter and the Evil Wolfs being an improper translation. Had you given the name Petar i Vuci or Petar i Čopor Vukova, then the translation Peter and the Wolf Pack would be correct. Since you have added the adjective Zli, I believe that the translation must include the word Evil, Vicious, or any other to denote the quality. The reason why it was written Wolfs instead of Wolves was because Vuci is a grammatically incorrect form of Vukovi, thus I wanted to preserve the feature on the translated band name. As a person who devoted his life to professionally work as an English teacher and translator, and as a Wikipedia trusted user, I find it insulting that a user whose number of edits does not exceed 20, should put the capital letters as a word of warning.

As a compromise, I will add the adjective Evil to the current translation and any further changing of the band name translations would be considered a form of vandalism. If you disagree, you can state your reasons for a discussion on the article talk page. I hope that you will find my advices as useful and for any further ideas, you can contact me on my talk page. --Milosppf (talk) 00:04, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
