License tagging for Image:Image005.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Image005.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 13:06, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Hello License tagging/Orphan follow-uper, re. Image:Image005.jpg

Hi there orphan "follow-uper." Glad you are here. I wrote this message especially for a special someone like you, hoping that maybe one day you might stop by to check on my little abandoned orphan, maybe to tell me that you are ready to kill it off. Yes, it's up for abortion. Sorry to create extra work for you. I didn't realize that pictures uploaded cannot be deleted by the mother uploader herself, but needs to be cut out by the experts in the clinic.

If you have the time, I'll be forever grateful if you could pin up a note somewhere on the copyright clinic message board or wherever you orphan police guys hang out; a note that says something to the effect that green contributors like myself think that it would be wonderful if someone of your expert rank and skill could possibly one day find the energy, time and inclination to maybe clarify and simplify the instructions for how deletion requests are made. (Notice how I made this sentence extra long and winding? I'm trying to mirror how I felt looking for the image-deletion instructions.) In the end, I simply got too impatient trying to wade through those thick, thorny masses of texts and links, being all scratched up from my encounter with all those sharp-worded but unrelated branches of instructions on copyright issues and such. That's why, in the end, I sheepishly decided to just to abandon this poor orphan were he was, simply throwing him out into the wilderness as unwanted, to let him die on his own. Sorry again. Cheers, Pia

PS. If you are not the follow-uper: Hi there. I'm not home right now. Please leave a message. Pia

Hi!

I'm not sure what message you got from me when you weren't logged in. I tend to send alot of more or less unpleasant sounding notes to IP-talk pages when someone there has been vandalising alot or added lots of silly stuff to articles. I'm quite sure whatever message you received wasn't meant for you, but someone else sharing your IP. So you can safely ignore it. You're not in any trouble. At least not here on Wikipedia ;-). About Medieval 'landsting'

YOU WROTE: Williamborg, you're my idol after all the great work you did on the Scanian history section. Thank you for working so hard! I came to say thanks..but I also have a question: When you have the time, could have a look at the following sentence on the Scanian (linguistics) page:

"The Medieval Scanian Law (Skånske Lov) applied to all four provinces and the 'landsting', the gathering of all four provinces, chose and rendered homage to the king as one unity."

I did a major edit last night (inserting a bucket full of footnotes etc) ;) into that article, but I didn't have time to check up on this issue, so I thought I'd ask an expert. What role did the Medieval Scandinavian landstings play? Is "gathering" the right term here? Any comments on what the above sentence is trying to say and how it could be said better? Best wishes, Pia 20:23, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Williamborg, I found the wiki article about "The Thing" so I added a wikilink and made some small tweaks to that Scania language article. I think it makes sense now, even to us non-history buffs, so no worries. Best, Pia 22:50, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Sorry for delayed response. Out of town on business & ignoring Wikipedia.
Appreciate your kind words about the Skåneland edit. Got to Skåneland quite by chance—was looking for Skånland and mistyped it. After reading the Skåneland article and discovering a Skåneland "edit war" (which recurs with an almost predictable regulatory) I concluded the articles controversy mirrored the real life controversy and it was worth trying to craft a balanced article. The effort was educational; for example I read Min Svenska Historia for the first time and now understand why folks admire Moberg's work.
Liked your work on Scanian (linguistics); you write extremely well. Plus it was educational—wasn't aware of the Codex Runicus or Skånelagen before. Ancient Scandinavian law is a worthy topic—may look into it some (or at least put it on the to do list).
Looking forward to seeing more of your work on the Wikipedia.
Tusen takk - Williamborg 02:43, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

The article was promoted to Wikipedia:Good Article status. Much thanks to you :-)

Hi again Pia. If you want to know more about the grading scheme, see Template:Grading scheme.
It might also interest you that Skåneland formally became a Good Article yesterday.

You are most welcome

Not a problem - I am glad you are enjoying WP! Beware - it is an addictive place once you get started! If you have any queries on anything you can drop me a message and I will be happy to help you out. SFC9394 22:22, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Skåneland

What are you talking about? I just wrote about references to Skåneland in popular culture?

User:Johan1982

Skåne

I have been changing the coat of arms on Commons to free versions (the other ones are copyrighted by Riksarkivet)... I created a couple and uploaded them to Swedish Wikipedia to get some input and feedback (see a gallery at sv:Landskapsvapen#Landskapsvapen i Sverige), and am now in the process of transferring them (i.e. upload them again) to Wikimedia Commons. However, in some cases the arms need to be resized -- they were used without having a specified size (because they were so small) but the new ones are much larger in width so when used without a specified size they will use the full size. I fixed it now on article skåne.

Swedish source literature in English

Hi Pia, and happy Midsummer.

I just came by to ask you if you own or know if any books related to Sweden in the English language? Or if you know of any such "standard literature"? Maybe you saw such books on libraries in the U.S.

I can find lots of info in Swedish, but it's difficult for other people to check up on them, and would like to find English language literature.

/ Fred-Chess 16:54, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Just to fill you in, the articles that I've had in mind are Sweden, Stockholm and Gothenburg. I think I've done a fair job at structuring them and adding the most important piece of information, but alas they don't have any English references at all.
Thanks for the material you've given me so far. Just like you, I haven't intended to divulge myself into yet another project (Sweden during World War II), I'm really just trying to uphold the neutrality of the article..... but we'll see. / Fred-Chess 13:11, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

I believe it's great and very much ready for FA status. ;)Nightstallion (?) 12:46, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

Hey, Pia. My list was really only a precursory list, not meant to be complete. I did some more checking into hotel ratings, and it seems they are quite subjective, varying from country to country, so you might need to find out "5-stars according to whom"? I know there is something to back up the hotel in Nevis being the best in the Carib, because I've encountered that info every time we have planned to travel there (and never made it), and we have several sets of friends who were married there. You just may need to find the exact info, and reference it, and it may involve terminology other than 5-star, such as, "According to Travel magazine blah, blah ... good luck ! Sandy 23:30, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Sorry to see that you've been too busy with travelling to have time to address people's concerns over the Nevis article... But simply perfect it some more according to the suggestions in the FAC page, re-nominate it, and you'll certainly have success! :)Nightstallion (?) 19:31, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Nevis Tyson.jpg)

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Nevis Tyson.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.

I removed that image from the Nevis article, since as a film screenshot it was not covered by fair use except to illustrate the film itself, rather than the actors. David Mestel(Talk) 17:35, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

OK, David. Thanks for looking in to that issue. There are a lot of images already in that article, so maybe a replacement is not needed, but I'll get another one of Tyson organized anyway, just in case. Best wishes, Pia 21:50, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Also, in order to muster an interest in and a will to read some of the stuff that will seem incredible boring at first glance, you have to have a broad base. Ah Pia... "A "renaissance man/woman" type of mind." I immediately go into a Mittyesque dream sequence, deserting my miserable job, my wife and the family...
Thanks for the kind words! Coming from someone who herself does excellent work, it brightened my day. May your day be equally brightened Williamborg 16:11, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
And apologies if this overstepped the bounds of the appropriate. I really did appreciate your kind words... Williamborg 18:23, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
No, Williamborg, you made me laugh. Imagine that: four wives, and you still have energy left for Wikipedia. ;) Ha, ha, ha. I've been on the road again, so I haven't able to log in for long enough to put in the work on the articles I should have last week. Trying to catch up in a rush now. Best wishes, Pia 20:36, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Kudos -- You've done an awesome job

I just wanted to say kudos. You've done a remarkable job on the Nevis article. Woah. I just wanted to took a peak and I must say as the geographically smaller isle in the union it is certainly now showing up the Saint Kitts article.  :-) How are you feeling with your progress soo far? Booklist

Hi.

I wrote on the talk page of the booklist a while, but I will again say that I do intend to make use of it in due time. So it wasn't a waste of time for you to assemble it. You can, if you want to, add more books if you find more material that you think is suitable. It is also possible that you could add literature references to article Sweden, or other article you think would be enhanced by a literature section.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Wiglaf#The_elusive_Wiglaf

Unfortunately, I doubt that Wiglaf will return to Wikipedia. The last post he made to the Sweden talk page is from June of 2005, not 2006, unless you see something that I do not see. Wiglaf left for what I consider good personal reasons, though I sorrowed to see him depart from something he loved. Wikipedia greatly benefited from his knowledge. If you do anything to bring him out of his seclusion, you will have my thanks. My personal communications with him have thus far not proven to accomplish much in that direction.
