Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! I just wanted to inform you that your userpage is meant for information that is related to Wikipedia, and it is not a blog, personal website, social networking or a memorial site. Your userpage might be deleted if it contains only unrelated material. Note however, that if you happen to be a notable person, an article may be created on you. Have a nice time contributing! Categories are meant for articles only. Do not add them on your user page. Kotiwalo (talk) 12:07, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on User:Pianocrasher, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ukexpat (talk) 16:43, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reply: --Eugenie Absalom (talk) 18:19, 7 July 2009 (UTC) Re: Pianocrasher Page Speedy Deletion Nomination Challenge {{hangon}} code placed on the user page.[reply]

1. The page is not promoting a person, a business or a product. It is written about a new art movement: Acoustic Graffiti Arts and about its founder Oleg Lapidus (Oleg Lapidus biography section). Substantial amount of evidence was provided to verify the entry, including press related sources.

2. The content of the page is related to the existing Wikipedia entry on Street piano initiative and its creator artist Luke Jerram. Oleg Lapidus and Luke Jerram share similar artistic vision and I can't see how you treat one artistic initiative, namely Street piano as a notable material for Wikipedia and the other initiative: Acoustic Graffiti Arts - as not.

3. I understand that there may be copyright related questions - I used my own photographic image on the page and if you need any additional information I would be delighhted to provide it.

4. The name that I chose for the page: Pianocrasher coincides with one of the websites, but the page is written by myself, not the pianocrasher himself - that was the reason for spamming in question.

5. I will re-write particular bits of the entry that may look like promotional material and any help or advice from the Wikipedia experts would be much appreciated.

I am looking forward to your reply.

--Eugenie Absalom (talk) 18:19, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It reads like a promotional piece even if that was not the intention. Users have a little more latitude when it comes to user page content, but this one IMHO oversteps the line - see WP:UN. If you intend to create an article (as opposed to a user page) about this subject, please read WP:YFA, WP:N, WP:RS and WP:SPAM. – ukexpat (talk) 18:45, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

--Eugenie Absalom (talk) 18:53, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your reply and the suggested reading matter. I will edit some paragraphs of the entry to make material acceptable for a Wikipedia article on the subject. Your patience is very much appreciated.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Street piano has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): \byoutube\.com (links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfxe89mm97w). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file. Video links are also strongly deprecated by our guidelines for external links, partly because they're useless to people with slow internet connections.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 23:33, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for giving me some time to sort out the article. I am working on it and if you recommend any improvements to it, please, let me know. My user name Pianocrasher overlaps with domain name www.pianocrasher.com and causes confusion among Wiki robots. Would you recommend to change my username? --Eugenie Absalom (talk) 00:41, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder if material on my userpage could be used for creation for two articles: Acoustic Graffiti and Oleg Lapidus (biography bit)? --Eugenie Absalom (talk) 00:46, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, will make a start.  Badgernet  ₪  13:39, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Changing your username

[edit]

Hey, I noticed that you tried to change your username to Eugenie Absalom from the current name. Unforutnately, you went about it all wrong. When you moved your userpage to its new name, you did not create a new account. Instead, all you did was move it from the "user" namespace to the "article" namespace. Wikipedia is organized into namespaces (see WP:NAMESPACE for more details), which are the way that different regions of Wikipedia are kept seperate from each other. User pages are kept in a different place than articles are, but you confused this when you moved your user pages. If you would like to change your username, please head over to Wikipedia:Changing username and fill out the little form that is there. A high level administrator called a Bureaucrat will be along within a day or two to act on your request. Once that is done, you will have a new name for your account the proper way. If you have any more questions I can help you with, feel free to ask! --Jayron32.talk.contribs 13:34, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your comments on my userpage

[edit]

Sorry about the confusion over the definition of "notability". At Wikipedia, that word carries a special definition beyond merely "has done really important stuff." Please read Wikipedia:Notability for more information. In general, a subject is only deemed to meet Wikipedia's inclusion criteria (sometimes called the General Notability Guide or WP:GNG) if they meet the following criteria:

  • Significant coverage This means that the subject of the article is also the subject of other in-depth works, either a book, newspaper article, magazine article, or similar works. This is the most important thing. The subject requires more than just a one-sentance mention in a newspaper article; basically someone else has to have thought that the subject was worthy of researching and writing about outside of Wikipedia before Wikipedia will accept it as an article. Wikipedia has a higher inclusion standard that "it exists". There basically needs to be enough reliable source material to write a substantial article here. Trivial mentions, such as announcements of performances, or single sentance mentions in articles which are about other subjects, do not really amount to significant coverage.
  • Reliable sources See WP:RS for what constitutes reliable sources. Basically, if the source is respectable and has editorial control, like a book published by a respectable publishing house, a newspaper or magazine with widespread readership and a reputation for reliability, or a peer-reviewed journal, or perhaps a website that is held to the same level of editorial control. Stuff that is not reliable is stuff where anyone can publish information, and no one else needs to check up on it, like web forums, blogs, or other self-published stuff.
  • Independant sources means that the source material is independent of the subject themselves. "Official" websites and other self-published texts may be useful in a limited way to add information to an article, but they cannot be used to establish notability, which is about people outside of the subject of the article, with no vested interest in the subject of the article, having written about the subject.

The deal with these articles is, none of the source material you have cited shows any real indication of meeting all 3 criteria; that is either the material is trivial, unreliable, or it is published by the subject himself or those connected to him. If you could find and provide clear evidence of sources which DO meet all of these criteria, it would go a LONG way towards showing other people that he is notable. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 18:43, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Jayron32,

Thank you very much for the detailed information on the reliable sources. I am in the process of finding more references at the moment, though they would mainly refer to Oleg Lapidus's past and his music achievement, rather than Acoustic Graffiti.

As far as Acoustic Graffiti is concerned - it is a new trend. Its Birthday was on the 22nd October 2008, when Oleg Lapidus played Irish Harvest on his Irish whistle in a conference room of the House of Commons ironically at an Ofcom meeting with at least 100 jounalists present in the room. I was there myself and I documented his performance because the best proof of anything like this happening are video recordings, whether they are reliable source or not.

Television is showing great interest in Pianocrasher material, but it would be important for Mr Lapidus to get his name documented first as the founder of the trend. Once media takes over - there nothing to stop TV for example from saying that they created Pianocrasher. Wikipedia entry based at least on video recordings of his spontaneous music performances of 2008 would be a kind of a protection for him as the creator of the trend from possible misinterpretations in future.

With kind regards,

Copyright

Dear Jayron32,

I noticed your Talk remark about pianocrasher.com copyright, questioning my enry copyright.

I am the original source of all Pianocrasher and Acoustic Graffiti publications - text, video and photographs.

I am a professional journalist, member of the National Union of Journalists: [1] for the past ten years and I am well familiar with copyright issues. I work both in print and online and as you know journalism these days is turning more and more towards online publications rather than print (a possible issue for a Wikipedia article).

Please let me know of you have any further copyright questions.

Yours sincerely,
