License tagging for Image:Graham-Sarkozy.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Graham-Sarkozy.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

The article New Brunswick general election, 2014 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Currently WP:CRYSTALball speculation, election not to occur for four years.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. When you add a reference to an article, could you please also include information such as the article title, publication name and date, instead of just the web URL alone? The issue is that, as I'm sure you know, websites sometimes die, or cull outdated news articles, or reformat their URL structures as new web technologies (PHP, etc.) emerge. So if all we have is the URL, then we lose access to the reference if and when one of those things happens — but if we have the complete reference data, we can simply strip the weblink and still have a valid reference. Frex, the Neelam Verma reference on Sun News Network should look something like

instead of just the URL alone. There are also templates such as {{cite news}} and {{cite web}} that you can use for more standardized appearance, but they're not mandatory as long as the publication data is present in the ref tags somehow. Thanks.

Also, thanks for the catch on Omar Alghabra. You're right, it was written like a campaign brochure (a fairly common problem on Wikipedia on many articles about politicians of all stripes), so I've restubbed it more neutrally and objectively. Bearcat (talk) 20:51, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
