If you're up to it, I would be happy to have some help with this one. FloridaArmy (talk) 01:51, 28 March 2023 (UTC)

Thoughts on this one? FloridaArmy (talk) 12:37, 28 March 2023 (UTC)

I'm trying to make sense out of what I'm finding and have had a tough time finding good sources on this fellow. From what I gather he was a white state senator of predominantly black Macon County, Alabama in the 1970s and got in trouble after a state rep tried to bribe him for support of legislation regarding betting on animal racing at tracks? There's a firebombing of his office thrown in for good measure? It's all very strange. Who wore the wire? One of the first two reps Reps elected in Alabama to the legislature post the post-reconstruction period? The bribe was to get a regulatory agency for gambling or against it? Was gambling of this sort illegal so this would have established it? He served his time? What happened after that? Is he alive? Dead? I'm in wayyyy over my head. Just another rabbit hole I suppose. His son is a lawyer? FloridaArmy (talk) 01:31, 30 March 2023 (UTC)

FloridaArmy, I agree this one is tricky. I added a few new citations but its still unclear. I also did not see any obit but online (a non reliable source) stated he may have died in 2022? PigeonChickenFish (talk) 07:45, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
