Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, club, organization, company, or website, I have blocked this account from editing. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change of your current account here. The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username on this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page here: {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken or in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page here: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

Hi AlexF,
thank you for your quick explanation and pointing out the policy of Wikipedia.
As this is the first time we are on Wikipedia to write an article.
we are indeed a band and pigs in blue glue is the name of this band.
We existed in 1981 till 1986 with some following, existing Facebook page- videos on Youtube and press releases at that time in Belgium.
As there is a revival of postpunk in Belgium, and more and more "original" bands from that early 80'ties period are mentioned again, we thought it would be nice for those who are keen on knowing a little bit more about the band.
If you read the article, it is not really "promotion" or something like that but written from an "objective" point of view: period / members / musical styles.
So as we saw so many artist and bands Wikipedia pages, we thought it was "normal" and "easy" to add a Wikipedia page for artists.
That was what we did yesterday.
As we created the page in good intentions. it will no problem for us to remove anything that is against your policies, if necessary the whole article.
Is there a way we can edit or remove the blocked page?
Or is changing the username (we thought the username should be the same for creating an artist page - so that is why we used it) enough to be in line with your policy?
Thank you for your reply,
and have a nice day!
Marc

  • The main issue here is your username- accounts are for individuals, not organizations or groups. The username must indicate that the account is exclusively used by a single individual who gives no one else access. You are discouraged from using your real name; your username need only be individualistic. Please follow the instructions to propose a new username.
Wikipedia has articles, not "pages". This is a subtle but important distinction. Articles are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the subject. Wikipedia is not a place to write about one's self or one's groups, where mere existence warrants a mention. This is an encyclopedia with criteria for inclusion, called notability. A Wikipedia article about a band must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about it, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable band. Wikipedia is not interested in what the band says about itself, only in what others choose to say about it. Please read Your First Article. To be successful in writing about your band, you would need to set aside everything you know about it, and all materials it puts out(like press releases, interviews, the band website, brief mentions) and only write based on what others say about the band. If you truly feel that you can do that, you may submit a draft via Articles for Creation once unblocked. 331dot (talk) 08:13, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you 331dot!
Sorry for the mis-interpretation, everything is clear now and we will remove the article without any problem.
Can this been done by ourselves or does it just kept being blocked?
Have a nice day! Pigs in blue glue (talk) 08:22, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
