Sandi Thom[edit]

Thanks for improving the article. It is helpful to other editors if you include an edit summary to explain the change you have made.

The Scotsman review is protected by copyright, and copying significant parts of it is an infringement. It is best in such cases to write a short summary in your own words, with perhaps a short direct quote if there is a notable phrase.

Direct quotable link to artists pr page which has been done in the almost word for word quotation is not impartial information and is in fact promotion. User:skinnylizzy —Preceding undated comment added 22:18, 17 August 2011 (UTC).[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:LorraineKelly2011.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. November 2011[edit]

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Ronan Parke, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Denniss (talk) 22:41, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Scarlett + the Ned has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. reddogsix (talk) 00:57, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Tulisa Contostavlos. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Creating and editing articles[edit]

Hi! I saw that you're relatively new to editing and adding pages to Wikipedia, so I thought I'd give you a little information on what is considered kosher when creating articles.

Firstly, I want to let you know that articles must be written in an encyclopedic tone. For example, in the Jack Nano article you included customer opinions from actual reviews from various websites. Unfortunately we can't quote individual reviews from customer websites like Clarks or Amazon because anyone can add a review, which makes it very easy for someone to game the system and turn the ratings in whatever direction they choose. (The store could add a lot of positive reviews to make it look better or people could add many negative reviews for a prank.) You must also refrain from adding sentences that state things such as "the printing on the insole will wear away from boys' feet sweat". While it does seem like an obvious addition, it's just not very encyclopedic in tone and isn't really necessary to the article. It doesn't really add anything informative and is best suited for a review on the Clarks website. Other than all of this stuff not being encyclopedic, it also comes across as promotional in nature and that should be avoided at all costs. You don't appear to be a representative of Clarks, so I believe that you just weren't aware that promotional sounding articles should be avoided per WP:ADVERT or WP:PROMOTION.

Secondly, all articles must have reliable sources per WP:RS. Anything that is put out by a company or persons that are the focus of the article is not considered to be a reliable source because well, the company or person can say whatever they want about themselves. It's this same reasoning that makes any public review site a non-reliable source as well.

Thirdly, I highly recommend that if you are ever in doubt, create an article using the Wikipedia:Articles for creation creator. The article won't get immediately posted onto the main website but it will get checked over by experienced editors who will accept or decline it based on the same reasoning that is used in the articles for deletion, but with one big difference: you can continue to edit the article even if it is declined and then re-submit it.

Hope this helps! Tokyogirl79 (talk) 18:39, 3 December 2011 (UTC)Tokyogirl79[reply]

Edit Summaries (ESs)[edit]

Hello again Pioneersbrog. You may not remember me - if you read my comments in the Nov. 2011 section, there's certainly no indication you've understood them - you've neither followed them nor replied.

Then again, there's no evidence you've ever read any Talk page - you've certainly never contributed to one as yet.

I hope you read the helpful comments kindly left by Yokyogirl79 above.

Anyway, to reiterate my own point from November:

Tip of the day...

Please summarize your work using the Edit summary box

If you make anything other than a minor edit to an article, it helps others if you fill in the edit summary. Edit summaries are visible in the page history, watchlists, and on Recent changes, so they help other users keep track of what is happening to a page.

If you use section editing, the summary box is filled in with the section heading by default (in gray text), which you can follow with more detail. You also can put links to articles in the edit summary. Just put double brackets around [[the article title]] like you would normally. The summary is limited to 255 characters, so many people use common abbreviations, such as sp for correcting spelling mistakes, rm for remove, ce for copy-edit, etc.

Read more:

Consensus is to Help:Edit_summary#Always provide an edit summary. It's a shame you've so far shunned ESs - is there some reason why you've done so? Trafford09 (talk) 23:13, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

copyright violations[edit]

Do not copy reviews into articles, summarize them. Copying them, as you have been doing, violates copyrights. If you continue to copy reviews into articles, I will be forced to block you from editing.—Kww(talk) 00:03, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Final warning: do this again, or revert a removal, as you did here, and you will be blocked.—Kww(talk) 11:58, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for copyright violations. You have proceeded to paste entire reviews into articles without considering or responding to warnings about this behaviour. Any admin can unblock when this editor agrees to follow copyright policies, and to summarize material rather than pasting complete copies of the material.. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

A tag has been placed on Beat the Bully requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". The article Scotland's Greatest Album has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article claims to be about an album, but it is only a "Best of ..." playlist from a TV show, nominated from Internet voters. Fails WP:NALBUMS a bit. A speedy was declined.
