Alpha Phi Alpha[edit]

Great job on adding football players, I think the reader will see Alphas have had a great impact in the NFL and AFL. However; the list should not be a NFL/AFL roster; Do you know of any other Alphas that can be listed in the the other categories?

see Category:Wikipedians in Alpha Phi Alpha--Ccson 16:00, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on the List of Alpha Phi Alpha brothers to have it certified as Featured list. Some of your entries don't have a source and that will cause a problem once it's nominated and review by other editors. Do you have reputable and verifiable sources for names such as Chris Doleman, Sayon Cooper and other names you added> I was able to find sources for some names such as Trezelle Jenkens et. al.--Ccson 15:59, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

David Shanks, et al[edit]

I see you added David Shanks as an actor in BarberShop and BarberShop 2: Back in Business. I viewed these articles on wikipedia and did not find Shanks credited in either film. What role did Mr. Shanks play in either of the two films that one would consider him famous of the 175,000 Alpha men? Consider, if 10 percent of the group were famous, that's 17,500 and too many to list here. This list as stated in the article is about Notable Alphas who have made an impact in their chosen field. For example, many Alphas marched with Dr King, but that doesn't warrant them as Notable civil rights activists to have their name listed. There are many Alphas who are lawyers and doctors, but it they haven't made an impact of National or International import, they probably shouldn't be listed here. You're very knowledgeable and doing a great job, but, think "Household Name", every player to walk on a football field or basketball court is not Notable.--Ccson 04:00, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the response and I'm pleased you weren't offended. You're correct; it is a matter of opinion who's notable in any field. I was just saying if a person is not listed in the films credits, it was probably just a walk on role, (i.e. if someone delivers the mail to the star of the film, that doesn't make the person famous our noteworthy, of course in my opinion.) Take a look at List of Cornell University people, which is my model for the APA list. I don't think you will find a Mayor listed, but I must believe that someone from Cornell was Mayor. In fact, the Cornell list doesn't list any local or state politician if that's as far as their political career reached, but I included this in APA's list. DJ's are popular, but I wouldn't list my local DJ, I would list Tom Joyner if applicable for a list. I don't have the final word on who can appear, I'm just saying that when someone reads the list and sees the name, they should think "i know that name, but I had no idea he was an Alpha, even other Alphas such as myself. Keep up the good work and keep educating me on my brothers.--Ccson 14:40, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Alphas[edit]

I would be glad to help. I've copied your note from my userpage to the Talk:List of Alpha Phi Alpha brothers#Notable members of Alpha Phi Alpha. We can continue our discussion here. I will review the online links and add the names listed. Regarding Strode and Washington being listed in the Sphinx magazine, I need following:

  • Name of person writing the article
  • Month and Year
  • Title of the article
  • volume
  • issue
  • page number where info appears

supply as much as you can.--Ccson (talk) 08:20, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jim McMillan[edit]

The link you provided on the List of Alpha Phi Alphas brothers talk page for Jim McMillan does not work. Can you provide a current reference which stipulates his NBA and Alpha credentials?--Ccson (talk) 16:07, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
