Conflict of interest editing[edit]

Information icon Hello, PoliticsNC. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Andrew Barnhill, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 03:47, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Andrew Barnhill[edit]

The article Andrew Barnhill has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not appear to meet WP:NPOL - being a candidate for elected office is not enough; nor does there seem to be anything in the article currently to suggest he meets WP:GNG

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. November 2016[edit]

Information icon Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Andrew Barnhill, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 04:26, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message on my talk page. If you wish to work on an article over time, then you should create a draft. Wikipedia articles that are added to the main encyclopedia space are expected to be ready to go and can be edited by anyone. As I noted above, at this stage you do not seem to be able to meet the notability requirements. Per WP:NPOL merely running for elected office does not make someone notable. You need to be able to demonstrate why this person is notable enough according to wikipedia's guidelines for an article. Furthermore, you appear to have a conflict of interest which means you should consider carefully whether you need to declare this or whether you should be editing such an article at all, again according to wikipedia guidelines. Finally, I would suggest that to create an article 10 days after an election and not even state that the person had lost is disingenuous at best. Please read the policies I have linked to, as well as this one WP:NPOV on neutrality. Thank you, Melcous (talk) 04:33, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

November 2016[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Thank you.
