Melotte 186 notability

Hello, you recently created this article. Are you certain that it is generally notable, or notable under WP:NASTRO? Generally, we don't keep articles on all open clusters unless there is demonstrated notability. Are there scholarly sources out there that mention this cluster in depth? I expanded the Melotte 186 article further by translating the Italian version of the article into English. If it’s fine there I feel it should be fine here as well. The cluster is visible to the naked eye, remarkably big given it’s rough distance away from Earth, and catalogued in two separate astronomical catalogues dedicated to open clusters (Melotte and Collinder). I feel these facts satisfy the general notability requirement for an astronomical object getting its own article. I’m unaware of additional studies made on the cluster but I can look around if need be. Ponderosapine210 (talk) 06:14, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

Paraphrasing

Hello Pondero, there were a handful of sentences in the article Pacific Coastal Mountain icefields and tundra that seemed to be directly from the WWF source or very close paraphrasings. It doesn't appear that the WWF's article is published under a free license, so I removed some sentences that would likely fall under their copyright. Page moving

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Prince Rupert Port Authority a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Port of Prince Rupert. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Missing cites in San Juan Valley (Vancouver Island)

The article cites "Groome et al. 2003" and "Brandon 1989c" but no such sources are listed in bibliography. Can you please add? Short description

Hi. I’m not sure I agree with this edit in the round. The article for port indicates its primacy over the wording seaport. But the geographical portion of the description probably does need an update. But I’d have thought that ‘Vancouver’ is too specific for a description. That's fine. I was just going off of the precedent set by the "Port of Oakland" article. It's probably a more accurate description as well given the existence of PoV facilities along the Fraser River, which isn't technically the sea. Ponderosapine210 (talk) 18:13, 27 September 2020 (UTC)

Midnight Sun Mosque

Delighted and surprised to see that you created the article ... ever since I took the picture, it has been on my list of articles to create and I was planning to do so soon.

So, I would like to know, would you be OK with it being nominated for DYK? I had also looked at some sources and may have found some facts that would make a good hook (Plus, if I did, and it got used, it would be my 700th DYK and so it would be special like I wanted it to be). Nonhuman Unity Flag

Welcome to Wikipedia! Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent uploads, such as the file you uploaded at Otherkin, did not appear to be constructive and has been or soon will be deleted. Please read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. While this flag was released to the public domain, there are no references (just a tweet) for it that meet Wikipedia's guidelines for inclusion that I've been able to find, which can be considered image evandalism (though I admit I believe you were acting in good faith here. You've also been asked not to add flags to infoboxes before, which you did again on the Otherkin article. Warrenmck (talk) 18:12, 14 August 2023 (UTC)

The flag included in the identity infobox was uploaded in the context of the established practice of including flags relating to personal identity in infoboxes. See the infoboxes of the following articles: Asexuality, Intersex, non-binary gender (a photograph of a flag), transhumanism (a community symbol as opposed to a flag).

All previous instances of flags being included in infoboxes were relevant to those of inline flags of national and sub-national administrative entities. For example, I used the Wikilink with an attached Unicode flag for the territorial entity when standard practice for infoboxes of territorial entities should be a standard Wikilink text (i.e. United Kingdom instead of United Kingdom). This differs from other infobox standards such as those relating to armed conflicts (i.e. Anglo-French blockade of the Río de la Plata), hence my initial confusion. I haven't engaged in this practice since October 2020, almost three years ago.

My addition of the flag to the infobox was in good faith. I believe the inclusion of the Non-human Identity Flag is relevant to the content of the article more broadly. However, the inclusion of the flag is not necessary if it comes across as evandalism to the average reader, which was not my intention. Ponderosapine210 (talk) 18:54, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

Fair, and sorry for misunderstanding the issue in the past with the flags. The nonhuman unity flag appears to be exclusively in the domain of self-published fandom material right now, though, so it doesn't really have a place on Wikipedia.
