Your edits to Ponziani Opening[edit]

Hi,

Although we appreciate any good faith attempts to improve any article, including Ponziani Opening, there were some problems with your most recent edits to the article. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that aspires to be unbiased and accurate. To achieve this, we have a few core policies:

Verifiability requires that any content be sourcable to a "reliable source", and that any statement that is or is likely to be challenged be referenced to such a source.
No original research is closely related to verifiability and basically means that facts that you have discovered yourself should not be added to Wikipedia, at least not before it has been published elsewhere.
Neutral point of view requires fair representation of all views of the subject.

In addition, there is a large laundry list of things of what Wikipedia is not, and a guideline in the "conflict of interest" guideline on citing your own material called "citing oneself".

The most recent edits made extensive references to your own book. This is not always a problem, but it is important that you avoid adding text that seems to promote your book, as such sentences like "there is new theory on this line and a whole chapter on the line in my book Play the Ponziani" are not appropriate in an article.

Since Wikipedia is not a guide or textbook, lines such as "Please note the 4. Bb5 line has been refuted. There is a whole chapter in Play the Ponziani which gives the refutation. Do not play 4.Bb5--instead play 4. Qa4" should also be avoided. We do not instruct readers on what to do, we just tell them what is.

Finally, articles are (in principle at least) written and edited by the community as a whole, and therefore they must not be written in first person (e.g. "I", "we", "my", etc.) so "I have devised a follow up on how to play the resulting endgame" is another one to avoid.

The policies and guidelines on Wikipedia can appear daunting, and may at first appear very restrictive, but they are in place to aid in Wikipedia's aim of being accurate, reliable, and unbiased.

Yes re your BLP (BLP = Biography of Living Person). I don't have a pic already, but even if I took the pic off your webspace at Chess.com, that wouldn't be accepted by WP:OTRS (the pic would end up removed), they need your direct permission (verifiable via your Email). (Please read my mail. Or, you can load your pic to Commons yourself too, or send it in yourself too, see Photo submission.) Let me know if not clear.
