Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. --Siobhan Hansa 11:26, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. -- Siobhan Hansa 21:13, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Pr unni, Thanks for leaving a message on my talk page.

There are other sites on the some of the articles your link was removed from that should not be linked and over time they will be removed too. On a couple of articles I had the time and ability to sort through all the links, on others I could only clean up your edits.

Regardless of the appropriateness of other links on an article, systematic addition of links to a particular site in order to promote that site is considered spamming and is not allowed. Also, adding a link to a site you are connected with is not appropriate on Wikipedia. Editors who wish to add link to sites they are involved with are asked to place the link on the article talk page and request other editors of the article to review it and add it if they think it appropriate. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. Being a popular website many people want to link their sites from Wikipedia, however this can have a negative impact on our articles. Our guidelines and policies are designed to increase our ability to build a GFDL encyclopedia, careful monitoring of external links is a significant part of this. To this end we strongly encourage you to add content to articles rather than external links. -- Siobhan Hansa 04:12, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Response to request to remove checks

[edit]

Hi Pr unni. I need to maintain a list so I can ensure the issue does not repeat itself. But I've moved the page to a different URL and changed mentions of spam. -- Siobhan Hansa 20:57, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think you're seeing the URL that way because Google hasn't updated its database yet. The old URL forwards to the new one but doesn't contain any of the info, once the database is updated it shouldn't come up, if it's still there in a couple of days I'll ask to have the old page deleted fully.
The ad sense ID can only make you money and I'm not making it any more available than you were. It came directly from your webpage and the only way for someone to use it is to put it in their webpage and send their ad sense income to your account (which would probably be OK from your perspective). The IDs are one of the ways we link multiple site to a single source, so from my perspective they're important to keep. I'll have another look at my pages and see if I can think of a way to keep this info in a way that makes it less obvious to a reader but still provides the functionality I need. -- Siobhan Hansa 14:04, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK. I'll cn\hange the links and get an admin to delete it. -- Siobhan Hansa 15:37, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What action are you suggesting I take? The page has been deleted. Google can take a week or more to update their database. -- Siobhan Hansa 04:39, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Pr unni. I am willing to work with you to try to make sure you are not unnecessarily affected by the recording of the your addition of links against our policy. Nevertheless I am not prepared to remove the tools I have to ensure you do not repeat your previous actions and since Wikipedia does not have private pages they are going to stay in my user space. The new link you have added has been a redirect for sometime, so if it didn't show up before, I'm not sure why it does now. I have done the same to it as I did to the old page. there are no other redirects pointing to the page. Your message on my talk page sounded very like a legal threat. If that is your intended course of action you need to stop using Wikipedia and ask your lawyer to go through official channels. -- Siobhan Hansa 18:44, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Pr unni, does this seem to be settled now? I've checked Google with a couple of different searches and none of my pages seem to come up. Please let me know if you're still finding them - and what search terms bring them up - I can try and do some fine tuning. Thanks. -- Siobhan Hansa 10:51, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia has a policy that disallows legal threats against other editors. Please either withdraw the legal threat you recently made on User:SiobhanHansa's talk page or immediately withdraw from editing Wikipedia. I am prepared to block your account indefinitely if you do not immediately withdraw the threat. Thanks, Gwernol 18:57, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
