Prince fo Persia[edit]

Hi. im working on the Prince of Persia part on wikipedia... as you can see there are more information about the characters added and im going to write some more... Just today i have found out that you made a page about the characters ((there ware almoust no links to that page)) and im not sure what to do with it. The info is very nice written but i dont want to put the page on the Template:Prince of Prsia series becouse i want to distinguish all of the characters on different pages. If you want to, drop some info from your page on those "mini pages" about the PoP guys... --sturm 07:46, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Me again :). The idea of making different pages for each pop character came when i saw the Hali-Life 2 page. For example check this out - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Isaac_Kleiner there's not too much info here but the hall thing looks great. So i was thinking to make separate links for The Prince, Farah and The Empress. The rest would go on one "characters" page with The Old Man, Maharaja, Vizier and some other less important guys... but then again it would make it more complicated and there still is the spoiler problem with Kaileena (i think its very good done right now)... Well the redirection of Dahaka alone whill not solve the problem. --sturm 09:43, 18 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

OK i did it. We can call it a compromise :). I made 3 main characters pages - The Prince, The Sandsometing ant The Dark Prince - Characters: Farah, Old Man and stuff.... - Major Enemies: Vizier, Empress, Shahdee... Most of the info is left from your edition. I think this was the best way to do it. I have however left the redirection link in the Kaileena part to avoid a major spoiler. There is a lot of work left to be done on the page. The locations, the dark prince, the maharaja.... i could use some help ;) Hope you like the way the PoP wikipedia part looks now. Take care --sturm 14:51, 18 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

oh and one more thing - i dont know how to delete the mini sites about the characters so i hope you can help me with that one :) --sturm 14:53, 18 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

hmm im not sure about the items... The Sands Of Time article can be expanded into a really long one in the future... the same goes for the Water Sword - i was thinking about puting info about all special weapons in the game. Lets leave it this way for now. And about my grammar - hehe i cone from Poland so english is not my native language - thats where the mistakes come from :) --sturm 00:04, 19 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mweh[edit]

It's late, I'm tired, I'm so stuffed with caffeine I can stay awake all the way through to christmas and you have a blank talk page. The first three I can't change. The last one I just did. ^_^ Moo to you! And reply in here please, by the time I get to your talk page to write a response, I usually get distracted again by som- ... Oh, look at that pretty birdy! :: DarkLordSeth 03:38, 13 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hey, dude, how's it going? Yeah, my talk page was all narsty and overgrown so I pruned it...lol...even though I'm never on anymore. User:Premeditated Chaos/Sig 07:40, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

Things have been peachy here, how about yourself? Been ages since we talked but I guess you're still on your slightly-enforced break from WikiPedia. And yeah, it was messy in the end. I'll clean up things for you when things become chaotic in here, next time. :) :: DarkLordSeth 17:33, 13 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Eeeeyeah...it sucks because I'll be on looking for info for like a school project or whatever and I'll see some glaring typo or error and I can't fix it. Drives me batty, I tell you. Other than that I'm good. User:Premeditated Chaos/Sig 19:45, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

What do you mean with 'Can't fix it'? Just hit the edit button and fix the typo? :P :: DarkLordSeth 16:09, 14 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Parentally enforced wiki-vacation. They check the history. They're creepy that way. Apparently the Wiki stops me concentrating on my schoolwork (which it does but that's entirely aside the point...) User:Premeditated Chaos/Sig 22:24, 14 August 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, I heard about stuff like that before. Parents installing keyloggers and reading up IM logs and all that. Seems some people are way too concerned and wonky these days... Besides, didn't you just have summer holidays over there in Canadia, eh? I dunno what your parents are so concerned aboot with you Wikipediaing ( Is that even a word? ) during your own holidays... :: DarkLordSeth 00:03, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yeah...they're a touch weird. But I can get on sometimes when they're not in, so that's okay. User:Premeditated Chaos/Sig 19:25, 15 August 2005 (UTC)

By the way, where can I report abusive users? Some asshat got his panties in a bunch after disagreeing with me and I can't say he was quite civil about it. Instead of redirecting some offensive articles to his user page, I decided to forgo vigilante justice and just report this to the nearest admin that I know; You. :) :: DarkLordSeth 11:39, 17 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Let's see...you added a bit to Lineage II about private servers, he NPOV-tagged it, you disagreed and took it off, and now he's reacting in a rather uncivil manner. Is that a fairly accurate summary? For now, instead of reporting him I'd try to follow dispute policy and talk it out with him nicely. Try to refrain from calling him names, and ask him to do the same. Explain your point (about how you think it is NPOV), and ask him to explain why he thinks it isn't. Get him to be as specific as possible, and try to be the same if he asks you for anything. See if he can add the opposing point of view to the article without removing or seriously altering what's already there. (After all, if he thinks it's biased, he ought to be able to provide an opposing view to fill in.) If he can't have the discussion without resorting to insults and general crankiness, try mediation. I'll keep an eye on the discussion, but, as your friend, I'm going to stay out as much as I can so it doesn't look like favoritism. User:Premeditated Chaos/Sig 21:03, 17 August 2005 (UTC)

I was about to vandalize your suer page but I decided against it for now. But I'm still bored so I'm going to do random junk on your user page now, like poking you with a spoon or dancing the macarena in reverse..... while poking you with a spoon! :: DarkLordSeth 00:53, 18 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • But but but.... I would make it so much more better! Besides, I'm so tempted right now! >_< :: DarkLordSeth 11:28, 18 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there PMC. I'm closing out old VfDs and this one perplexed me a bit. I wouldn't know a Digimon from an Almond Joy, so I'm deferring to you. The nominator in this case had a trivial number of edits, so I can't in all good faith count his nom as a vote to delete, leaving the total at 1 delete vote to zero keep votes. If you think this article is bogus, VfD it again, will you? I don't want patently false information on the EnWiki, but it'd be a conflict of interest for me to get involved further with it. Wikimania 2006[edit]

In the course of informal discussions at Wikimania in Frankfurt the possibility of having Wikimania 2006 in Vancouver was raised. What makes Canada desirable for such a meeting is the capacity to draw delegates from the United States. For many overseas delegates, however, U.S. visa requirements make that country less attractive. All else being equal, Europeans see Vancouver as a more interesting Canadian city to visit than Toronto, the only other Canadian city to receive significant consideration.

Preliminary bids from various cities need to be made by Sept. 30, 2005. A short list will be drawn from those bids. Is there enough interest and energy to put together such a conference in Vancouver for August 2006? The people in Frankfurt put on a tremendous gathering, with a core organizational group of about a dozen people. Some 400 people attended from 52 different countries.

I expect that a North American Wikimania could be a little smaller, but we would still need a suitable facility. It would be good to know that such a facility is available for a conference; the type of youth hostel facility that was used in Frankfurt does not exist in North America. What would be the cost of hosting such a conference at UBC?

I'm looking for interest and commitment. To that end I am proposing a Vancouver meetup for Saturday, Sept. 24. If someone has a reasonably accesible place for such a meeting please let me know. (I live in Richmond, but something in the city of Vancouver would be more appropriate.)

I am spammiong this to all Vancouver area Wikipedians that I can find. Please reply to my talk page. Eclecticology 21:50:16, 2005-09-03 (UTC)

Thanks for responding. I have a 15-year old son, and would be delighted if he showed an interest in the Wiki! That being said, I also appreciate that Wikiactive youth would have just as much difficulty convincing their parents of the value of this project. Two often made suggestions when the issue of protection of youth from on-line predators comes up are to have live meetings in a public place in a public place, and for the youth to bring a parent to the meeting. I'm in a position to strongly influence the first condition, but can do nothing about the second. If, based on what you have said, you cannot make it on the 24th I will understand. Nevertheless, I still look forward to your participation at a future time. Eclecticology 18:31:07, 2005-09-04 (UTC)

Userpage vandalism, oh my![edit]

Yeah, bad me. Though I do recall someone else repeatedly vandalizing my pretty (blank) userpage... I don't suppose you'd know anything about that, silly? *pet pet pet* ^_^ :: DarkLordSeth 15:52, 5 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your work on the double redirects project[edit]

Hi PMC,

I've just noticed that you've left a section on the double redirects project open for two days now - any plans on finishing it off soon? :-) it's the last left in that particular batch, so if you're not interested, I'll take it :-)

About your signature[edit]

Nice user page! Anyway, I would like to suggest to you using the signature/nickname field in the preferences section instead of linking to your signature page just because that will lower the Wikimedia bandwidth usage a bit. Just a suggestion, thanks. -- WB 05:49, 18 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • As far as I'm aware, my sig code is too big to fit in the sig space, unless they've made it bigger since I've checked last. Plus, linking to the page is a lot less ugly than two lines of formatting after every post. I could change it, yes, but I happen to like it and I'd rather not. User:Premeditated Chaos/Sig 16:53, 18 September 2005 (UTC)
    • Go ahead. Nothing really serious anyway. lol -- WB 03:30, 19 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimania 2006[edit]

This is a reminder to all that there will be a meeting of Vancouver area Wikipedians on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. for all interested persons. We will meet in McDonald's at 897 Granville St. and Smithe in downtown Vancouver. This site was chosen simply because its central location and easy recognizability would make it easier for people who have never seen each other to find each other. Please feel free to bring additional interested people.

There are two questions to be discussed:

  1. Is there any interest for starting a Vancouver (or BC) chapter of Wikipedia?
  2. Is there enough interest and ability to make a Vancouver bid for Wikimania 2006?

Eclecticology 07:25, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I know that it will be difficult for you to come, but it's good to keep you posted anyway. Ec

Thanks for your efforts in this. Simon Pole was the only other person besides me to show up for the September 24th call-up, so there does not appear to be enough manpower available to organize Wikimania 2006 in Vancouver. Thus far it appears that Toronto has the best bid. Eclecticology 18:41, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Digi-stub[edit]

I'm part of the Stub Sorting Wikiproject. There is a a stub, Digi-stub / Category:Digimon stubs that has been on the Stub Sorting Discoveries page now since May, but is likely to see some action to resolve it soon as we go through them. The stub was not created according to the normal procedures, so the project needs to decide what to do with it. It's not a nonsense stub, nor is it only used by only one or two articles, so it hasn't been a priority for sending to Stub Types for Deletion. On the other hand, the stub sorting project generally prefers stub types to have either 60 stub articles or an associated WikiProject in order for them to be kept, and neither of those are true in the case of Digimon stubs. The Digimon stub stype is currently the oldest stub type on the discoveries list, so its fate is likely to be decided soon. I noticed that you had commented on Talk:List of Digimon so I thought I would solicit your input on these three questions.

1. If the Digimon stub type is kept it will need to be placed into the stub heirachy as the child of another stub type. If it is not kept, the atricles that are tagged with this stub will be restubbed with another stub type, likely the one it would be the child of, if it had been kept. The stub type that seems likeliest to me to be a parent is cvg-stub / Category:Computer and video game stubs, which also serves as a parent for the Pokemon stubs, but if you have a different place you think it belongs I would like to hear of it.

2. Is there a Digimon Wikiproject?

3. Are there Digimon articles that should be marked with a stub tag that aren't?

Thank you for your time. Any reply you wish to make, I would appreciate that it be made on my talk page Caerwine 18:06, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I just discovered that there is indeed a Wikiproject, Wikipedia:WikiProject Digimon Systems Update, so that potential objection seems satisfied. Caerwine 18:11, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Esperanza![edit]

Welcome, Premeditated Chaos/Archive 3, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member, you might be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. A spam list is maintained by Redwolf24 to keep members up to date; you might want to consider adding your name to the list. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.

I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Essjay, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of myself, Flcelloguy. Ryan Norton, and Acetic Acid. The next set of elections will be at the end of the year, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact me via email or talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work! Bratschetalk | Esperanza 16:38, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

User page deletion due to resignation?[edit]

deletion question[edit]

hi,

so, um, how come you deleted "curry code"? like "spaghetti code", curry code is a term for sloppy, messy code. except its spaghetti code that comes out of india.

i dont know what you do for a living, but i program. i work for huge companies across the country that outsource coding to india. in many, many cases, the code comes back all whack (spaghetti code). people in my industry call spaghetti code from india "curry code".

thats an observation. how is it "racist"? because it refers to a poor 3rd-world country? my point is, its not racist -- no judgement is made about citizens of india. no inferment is made that brown-skinned people are bad programmers.

no. rather, all it is says is: spaghetti code from india is called "curry code". the dictionary entry: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/curry_code.

you cant try to stop language.

please let me know your thoughts on this. i am user mdelvecchio99.

thanks, matt

Galleria[edit]

Hey, I'm not sure, but your subpage User:Premeditated_Chaos/galleria might could possibly maybe violate Wikipedia policy and U.S. copyright law prohibiting fair use images in the user namespace. But...I don't quite know. Yeah, there are a bunch of fair use images technically in the User namespace, but they're also demonstrating your contributions to Wikipedia, which is certainly admirable. I'm not going to touch it at all (unless I have some sort of epiphany), but I thought you might want to know that I stumbled across it there and thought it potentially questionable. Someone more ornery than I may come and harass you about that, but I don't see the harm in a gallery like that. (It's also out of date a bit. :-P) See you around! —BorgHunter alt (talk) 22:42, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

An Esperanzial note[edit]

As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.

In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: EA-welcome (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)

Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia Canada[edit]

Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil 17:11, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Another Esperanzial note...[edit]

Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".

The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.

Yours, as ever, Esperanzially,

Help needed please[edit]

Hi...if you have time, I'd like your help and assistance please!

I'm a relatively new member, so please bare with me :) I would like you help and/or advice in dealing with a certain user please. The user is question is Hotwiki. After making improvements to articles such as the Spice Girls (which I completely rewrote) and their members pages (Geri Halliwell, Melanie Brown, Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chisholm and Emma Bunton), its become very clear that hotwiki has a problem with me and constantly reverts any improvements I made to articles (best illustrated on the Geri Halliwell page, where he is also reverting edits made by other users).

There is a dispute over the Spice Girls discography; it was recently suggested that the Spice Girls library be merged with it and that the solo information included on the page be put on the girls own individual pages. The consensus agreement after discussions agreed with this view - with the sole exception of hotwiki, who seems to think he has some divine say over what does and does not go into the articles. And last night he made his objections personal, contravening wiki regulations on civility, in the Geri discussion page. This dispute has since spiralled and is effecting other pages. After discussions with other users on the best course of action, it was suggested that I should contact an admin to help resolve this childish situation - because quite frankly its petty and reflects very badly on Wikipedia.

Hotwiki is generally rude, arrogant and very hostile with a range of users - simply look at his discussion page and/or the additions he made to other people's discussion pages for evidence of this. His problem with me personally could well stem from outside of Wikipedia; I was a moderator on a large internet forum, which stemmed from a Spice Girls fan site. I don’t know what hotwiki's username is on the forum, but he has made it clear he was/is a member; so his hostility to me might stem from the fact I gave him an official warning or banned him whilst being a mod. Who knows. What is clear though is that he cannot continue the way he is acting because it reflects badly on this site and creates a negative and hostile environment.

Any help or advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated - and for now I'd like to keep this conversation on your discussion page (rather than mine) if you don’t mind. I am also going to contact one or two other users to see if they wish to make a contribution to this complaint, that way giving you more scope and different points of view. Thanks for you time - sorry to bother you over something so incredibly lame! Rimmers 01:13, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I second Rimmers' statement. Your help would be beneficial. —Eternal Equinox | talk 01:58, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay...I had a look over the pages and their respective Talks, as well as Hotwiki's Talk. My opinion on the problem is divided. On the one hand, hotwiki is being rather rude towards you both, and I can see that you're trying to remain civil, which is comendable. on the other hand, I'm personally biased against splitting band articles into branch articles such as Spice Girls awards. I watched the User:Everyking/Ashlee Simpson debacle unfold last year, and it was not a good thing. If you want an administrator to get heavily involved, I'd recommend that you ask someone else without a bias. However, if you'd like, I will leave a message on his Talk page asking him to be more civil - contact from an admin might help, it might not.

If it doesn't cease, I would suggest hitting RFC for some outside opinions on the issue. Hotwiki may stand down if enough people suggest that his behavior is unacceptable.

I'm sorry I can't be more help. I just don't think it'd be fair for me to get involved when I have a personal bias on the issue. PMC 03:49, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Geez, No one tell me about this lol. I'm always acting "civil", I was just pissed off to Rimmers because the Spice Girls discography with the solo stuffs is well organized and he want to put the solo stuffs on the Spice Girls library article. Singles/Albums charts should be in a discography not in a library. Just look at the Destiny's Child discography it also have the solo stuffs

Rimmers that's funny, I reverted ur edit in Geri Halliwell article because we already have the album pic in the article, you don't need to put it again. I don't know you also contributed in Victoria/Mel B article, I did not revert any single info on those 2 articles. I don't have any problems what so ever with Rimmers on other sites we are actually close in Den Den forums.

I'm not really a rude, mad, childish, silly person what so ever. People said I was nice and friendly lol I'm just being me and if I hurted Rimmer's feelings I'm really sorry from the bottom of my heart I just had problems with my boyfriend lol. I will be a "civil" person from now on lol.--hottie 21:27, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

HEY! Keep your fight off of my Talk page. This is not the place. Take it elsewhere. PMC 06:12, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #1[edit]

Reach out is a program aimed at allowing users to bring issues that they have had in Wikipedia to a listening, sympathetic and caring audience:
"No one can know how we feel if we do not say. We cannot expect to get understanding if we do not ask for it. No one will dispute that sometimes life's issues are too much for one person. It is fair to say that sometimes Wikipedia's problems fall under the same heading. This is a place where you can bring the bruises that can sometimes be got on this project for attention."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Note from the editor
Welcome to this new format of the Esperanza Newsletter, which came about during the last Advisory Council meeting - we hope you like it! The major changes are that each month, right after the Council meeting, this will be sent out and will include two featured programs and a sum up of the meeting. Also, it will be signed by all of the Advisory Council members, not just Celestianpower. Have an Esperanzial end of March, everyone!
  1. Future meetings are to be held monthly, not fortnightly as before.
  2. Bans and Access level changes (apart from autovoice) in the IRC channel are to be reported at the new log.
  3. In the IRC channel, there is going to be only one bot at a time.
  4. The charter requires members to have 150 edits and 2 weeks editing. Why this is the case will be clarified.
  5. A new Code of Conduct will be drafted by JoanneB and proposed to the Esperanza community.
  6. The NPA reform idea is to be dropped officially.
  7. Charter ammendments are to be discussed in future, not voted on.
  8. The Advisory Council is not going to be proposed to be expanded by the Advisory Council themselves, if others want to propose it, they will listen.

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #2[edit]

The Barnstar Brigade is a new program aimed at giving more very deserving yet unappreciated users barnstars. It will officially start on 2006-04-09, but signing up is encouraged before this date:
"Here in Wikipedia, there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go un-appreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go un-noticed. Sadly, these editors often leave the project. As Esperanzians, we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. A project the size of Wikipedia has thousands of editors, so there are plenty of people out there who deserve recognition, one just has to find them. The object of this program is not to flood editors with Barnstars, but to seek out people who deserve them, and make them feel appreciated."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Information
Welcome to the second issue of the new format Esperanza Newsletter - we hope you still like it! This week, it was delivered diligently by our new dogsbody. MiszaBot (run by Misza13): any execution complaints should go to him. Content comments should be directed at the Esperanza talkpage. Thanks!
  1. The next elections: Approval voting as before and, also as before, an previous leadership member can run. Please submit your name for voting in the relevant section of this page. Voting starts on 2006-04-23 and ends on 2006-04-30. There will be three places up for grabs as KnowledgeOfSelf is leaving Wikipedia. Please see the previously linked page for full details.
  2. The Code of Conduct is now ready for extensive discussion! Specific comments should go to the Code of Conduct talk page, discussion of having one at all should be directed to the main Esperanza talk page.
  3. The current process for accepting proposals for new programs has been deemed fine. All Advisory Council members and the Admin Gen are to endevour to be bold when viewing discussion. If they feel that consensus has been reached, they will act accordingly.
A plea from the editor...
The propsed programs page is terribly underused! Please leave any comments, good or bad, on the page, to help us determine the membership's thoughts on the ideas there.

Osama and zoophilia[edit]

Thanks for starting off the article on Osama (the film), and your work on zoophilia. I remember reading the latter when I was reading a tutorial on talk pages (courtesy of ElefantLuvr), and was impressed as to how NPOV it was. Andjam 12:35, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Old Skool Esperanzial note[edit]

Since this isn't the result of an AC meeting, I have decided to go Old Skool. This note is to remind you that the elections are taking place now and will end at 23:50 UTC on 2006-04-29. Please vote here. Thanks. --Celestianpower háblame 20:42, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #3[edit]

The Administrator Coaching program is a program aimed at preparing Wikipedians for Adminship or helping them understand the intricacies of Wikipedia better. Recently, changes have been made to the requirements of coachees. Please review them before requesting this service.
This would be something like the Welcoming Committee, but for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. Some might like suggestions about how to learn vandal patrol, or mentoring on taking an article to featured status, or guidance with a proposal they plan to make at the Village Pump, for example. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.
The Stressbusters are a subset of Esperanza aiming to investigate the causes of stress. New eyes on the situation are always welcome!
Note from the editor
As always, MiszaBot handled this delivery. Thank you! Also, congratulations go to Pschemp, Titoxd and Freakofnurture for being elected in the last elections! An Esperanzial May to all of the readership!
  1. Posting logs of the Esperanza IRC channel are explicitly banned anywhere. Violation of this rule results in deletion and a ban from the channel.
  2. A disclaimer is going to be added to the Esperanza main page. We are humans and, as such, are imperfect.
  3. Various revisions have been made to the Code of Conduct. Please see them, as the proposal is ready to be ratified by the community and enacted. All members will members to have to re-confirm their membership after accepting the Code of Conduct.
  4. Referendums are to be held on whether terms of AC members should be lengthened and whether we should abolish votes full stop.
  5. Admin Coaching reform is agreed upon.

Image:PMC staring.JPG listed for deletion[edit]

An image or media file that you uploaded, Image:PMC staring.JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

A short Esperanzial update[edit]

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

August Esperanza Newsletter[edit]

Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.
