Hi,

Am trying to do this on our company's internal wiki page.Its not a mediawiki page.Can u help me in solving this issue? ````prinav

Does the image exist on that wiki? i said 06:35, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

The image is nothing but our project outing pics taken by a digicam.Its saved as .jpg only.I uploaded it also.when i use ,the image gets displayed on the page.But when i try to create thumbnail only,iam facing this issue.

Regards,

Priya.N

There isn't a need to place helpme each time. So displaying the image at all isn't the problem, it's displaying it as a thumbnail? i said 06:44, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

The thumbnail of the image isnt getting displayed.Instead an error is shown.The error states GDConfiguration:missingfunctionfromjpeg.

Regards,

Priya.N

Hm. If the image is displayed correctly just as but not as , and the image exists, then I don't know what to tell you. I'll leave your helpme so that if someone with more coding and markup knowledge comes along, they can help. Sorry. i said 06:55, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

Thanks for your time and effort.This issue is really eating my brain a lot.I too dont know why that error is coming up and also i dont understand the meaning of that error.Its too technical i guess!!!

Regards,

Priya.N

I have asked this question of knowledgeable people, and they say that the issue is that you told mediawiki to use GD, but you don't have it or it won't do jpegs. So you may need to install this to get it to work. --Sopoforic 07:24, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

Actually the issue is whether i use jpg or png formats,its showing the same error when i try to get the thumbnail out of it.

Priya.N

Hi,

When i searched for some info related to this error,i came across some suggestions like using imagemagik,modifying the php file.Can u please explain me what are all these and how will i perform these.Coz am new to wiki.

regards,

Priya.N

I recommend that you go ask this question in IRC: on #mediawiki on irc.freenode.net. There are people there who can probably help you, but I don't myself know enough, and you'll be better served by asking them directly. If you haven't got an IRC client, you can use this page to connect. Just choose a name, connect, and ask your question. --Sopoforic 07:41, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

Thanks for ur time and effort.

Your edit to CAT:HELPME[edit]

Please do not actually ask questions on the category page. If you have a Wikipedia-related question, add helpme to your user talk page as you have in the past. Unfortunately, we are not generally able to assist with technical problems on programs outside the scope of Wikipedia. I would suggest reading the documentation for the software and contacting the proper support staff. If your question is still related to MediaWiki, see http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Project:Support_desk. --NickContact/Contribs 07:50, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi all,

I installed imagemagick on my wiki server for getting thumbnailing feature to work.I also made the follwowing changes to the loaclsettings.php file.But still iam getting this error

"Warning: exec() [function.exec ]: Unable to fork [""C:\Program Files\ImageMagick-6.3.5-Q16\convert" -quality 80 -background white -size 180 "E:\Wiki\mediawiki-1.7.1/images/e/e4/EagletonTripPic2.JPG" -coalesce -resize "180x135!" -depth 8 "E:\Wiki\mediawiki- 1.7.1/images/thumb/e/e4/EagletonTripPic2.JPG/180px-EagletonTripPic2.JPG" 2>&1"] in E:\Wiki\mediawiki-1.7.1\includes\GlobalFunctions.php on line 1719"

The modifications i did are

$wgEnableUploads       = true;
$wgUseImageResize      = true;
$wgUseImageMagick      = true;
$wgImageMagickConvertCommand = "/usr/bin/convert";

Kindly respond ASAP

Dear Prinav, as Nick said, we are not generally able to assist with technical problems on programs outside the scope of Wikipedia. You are asking about software you've installed and modified on a server that is not Wikipedia, and therefore, does not relate to the Wikipedia project. Review your documentation for the software in question, or you could do a Google search for assistance, to find a notice board you can post on for help. Thanks! Your recent edits[edit]

Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 07:59, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
