phonological dyslexia

[edit]

Hi ProBonoPublicoA90,

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia not a n exam room. Phonological dyslexia is a form of Alexia (acquired dyslexia) and the content of the phonological dyslexia article has to be about phonological dyslexia, and nothing else. The other problem was that most of your information was really out of date, and well behing current international research. The other problem was it was written like an essay and not an encyclopedia entry.

I would suggest that you leave wikipedia and do your assignment as an independent work, as you seem to have a very limited understanding of topic for an encyclopedia.

Just to bring you up to speed, there are two types of dyslexia. developmental dyslexia which has a genetic origin, and alexia (acquired dyslexia) which can be caused by brain injury, substance abuse, stroke, or progressive illness. Developmental dyslexia has three cognitive subtypes auditory, visual, and attentional which means that an auditory processing disorder, a visual processing disorder, an attention disorder, or any combination can cause the dyslexic symptom. Dyslexia is about having problems with a man made communication system the visual notation of speech, or about decoding and recoding the graphic symbols society chooses to represent the sounds of speech. Dyslexia is a social construct, and language dependent. As a short cut you might find the research paper listed in my Diigo Reading list and Dyslexia and reading list useful. There are more links to related research paper collections on my user page. The problem was that so much of the the contented you added was so out of date it could be be included in any current Wikipedia article. Best of luck with your project. dolfrog (talk) 19:06, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

if you want to continue with the phonological dyslexia article, I have already added some research papers as Further reading, and you might find this PubMed research paper collection of some use. PubMed also include more related articles and more importantly REVIEWS, when you select an article abstract. Me, I have auditory processing disorder as the caue of my dyslexic symptom which means i have word recall problems and problems using text to express what I understand, which meand that i tend not to add content to articles, but i do find the research and the citations, and I know when things are wrong. Again I hope this helps. dolfrog (talk) 19:43, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • This actually already exists under Child sexual abuse accommodation syndrome, but there were other issues with the article. The biggest was that the article was written like a personal essay and not an encyclopedic article. I kind of recommend going through Wikipedia:WikiProject Psychology before making any huge changes to the current article already in the mainspace, as there were also issues of neutrality. I also noticed that you edited the current existing article with elements that are more like a personal essay than an encyclopedic article. Please be aware that even if you view yourself as an expert in the matter, the articles must be neutrally written to be like an encyclopedia and not an essay.Tokyogirl79 (talk) 06:57, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
