AcademicInfluence.com[edit]

I notice all of your edits are the addition of interview links to academicinfluence.com

Do you have a professional or social relationship to that site? If so, consider reviewing WP:PAID and related issues.

Otherwise, keep doing what you're doing, but be aware that some of these additions might be contested. External link inclusion can be fairly arbitrary, and those you suggest are probably on the boundary.

Thanks, Frank.
I'm working on behalf of professors/people interviewed by that site at the moment. Professors want the interviews shared, for most they are interviews about their entire careers. How can I make it clear that the professors interviewed want the links on their wiki pages? I don't want to get myself or academicinfluence.com into any trouble. I am not so familiar, but here are my suggestions:
  1. Review WP:PAID
  2. Add the {{connected contributor (paid)}} template to your user page
  3. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution_disclosure#How_to_disclose: "Paid editing is further regulated by a community guideline, Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. This advises that those with a conflict of interest, including paid editors, are very strongly discouraged from directly editing affected articles, but should post content proposals on the talk pages of existing articles, and should put new articles through the articles for creation process, so they can be reviewed prior to being published."
Finally, please bear in mind that a professor's preference does not necessarily affect what does or does not appear on their article here.

Thanks. To be clear I wasn't paid, but it's okay that the links were removed. I'm a prof and thought those interviews were really great. I think I should do more homework before continuing my wiki editing hobby. Profseo (talk) 17:43, 17 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Frank, I also found some images that were marked as CC or Public Domain but they are own by AP and Reuters, respectively.
This image belongs to Reuters: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:ChenaultStateDinner.jpg

This image belongs to AP. I made changed to this page, but I don't think I did it right. Like I said, I'll do more homework before trying anything else.

Nice on your recognition of those images as non-free! That means they probably can't be hosted on Commons, unfortunately. I submitted a deletion review so people can review this matter. Freelance-frank (talk) 18:33, 17 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It is okay to make errors, and I am confused about your goals here, so perhaps I am the one making an error. If you are employed by AcademicInfluence, then that's an issue for you adding their content. If work for profs you're adding links for, then that's another related issue. But I don't know your circumstance. Perhaps you could clarify? Freelance-frank (talk) 18:33, 17 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I found those interviews and thought they were great. The site has a bunch, but I haven't watched them all, yet. I know my undergrad students use wiki for research so I put them in. I should have replied more clearly. "I'm doing it on the profs behalf" didn't sound right. I was thinking these interviews were great but hard to find on the web. The Mearsheimer interview was linked to from Washington Post I think a few months ago and if no others were kept it was one I'm going to point my students to.
Basically I'm trying to prep for courses next fall.
The images wasn't just a lucky find. A colleague heard what I was doing and brought up his friend being fined for using those on his site. So thinking I had wiki skills, I wanted to help others not make the same mistake. The friend has to pay $1200 for images he thought he was citing correctly.
