{{helpme}}

Not sure why the thumb image does not display on Dell PC Windows 7 but will display on MAC OS 10 in Firefox Any insights? ProjectCREATE (talk) 06:49, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I also have Windows 7. I am using Internet Explorer 8. I have not noticed any problems with Wikipedia. I am not sure what image you are referring to. What browser are you using? Brian Jason Drake 07:21, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
User:ProjectCREATE, you're referring to File:RobertFritz.jpg and how it appears on the Robert Fritz page, right? When you say you can't see it in Windows, have you tried it with both IE and Firefox? I'm using Safari/Mac and I can see it… but… Is there a problem with the image such that it's showing up as a negative? That's what I'm seeing, and it's definitely not what I'd call encyclopedic. Dori ❦ (TalkContribsReview) ❦ 07:30, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I can't see the image at all [the image reference in the article and both image references on the file description page (the big one at the top and the small one in the file history) all fail to load]. Brian Jason Drake 07:56, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Can you see it if you click through to http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d1/RobertFritz.jpg? There's definitely something funky about the file. OTOH, it's more or less the same image (when seen as a positive) as the one at http://www.robertfritz.com/img/rf7photo.jpg, which is clearly shown as copyrighted at http://www.robertfritz.com/index.php?content=about. I'm going to send it to WP:PUF.
User:ProjectCREATE, as that image is used at his site with a copyright, Fritz (or his representative) needs to go through the WP:OTRS process to prove that that image actually is free and available for Wikipedia to use. Dori ❦ (TalkContribsReview) ❦ 09:35, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the helpme sign above so it doesn't keep pinging the IRC channel since it looks like Dori is on it at the moment :) If you have another question of course feel free to pick it up. I also would be interested to see what setup you are using, I seem to be able to see the thumb image on both windows and linux (using chrome and firefox). James (T|C) 10:32, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't have the faintest idea whether it's free or not, because I can't see it, even with the direct link Dori gave above. Brian Jason Drake 10:40, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I just tried the image on another computer with Windows XP and Internet Explorer 7. Everything fails (the image in the article, the main image on the image description page, the two thumbnails in the file history and the direct link above). Brian Jason Drake 06:28, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've reenabled the {{helpme}} tag above, as this discussion seems to have died. The image has been deleted from the English Wikipedia but is now available on Commons as File:Robert Fritz.jpg. I still can't see it. When I was typing this message, I initially forgot to put the colon in, so the preview tried to display the image but that also failed. Brian Jason Drake 04:25, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure but it seems it must be a problem with your computer, as it's working fine here. You may wish to try Village Pump (Technical) for assistance; it doesn't seem to be a global Wikipedia issue, but perhaps a conflict between your computer and WP. --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 05:48, 7 February 2010 (UTC) I misread your question. You're asking about the inversion problem? I'm sure that can be fixed... let me take a looksie. --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 05:48, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I made some changes to the image. In particular, I changed from the CMYK color map to the RGB color map, as some browsers might not properly handle this. Clear your cache and try taking a look at the picture. Is the problem fixed? Regards --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 06:00, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Robert Fritz sent the photo

[edit]

Pending. Photo Copyright owner Robert Fritz is sending release and verification email to permissions-en wikimedia.org

How can I provide his copyright release to Wiki - he doesn't have a User page? Is there an email address that I could direct him too?

So still wondering about the image display and how to correct the display in Windows and Safari? Thanks for assistance.ProjectCREATE (talk) 15:54, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
